The thing with Bryant was, back when he was a rookie he was by far the best dunker in the game. He did the stuff that Nique and MJ did when they were younger, back in 96 no one really did that stuff. I once saw a pre-season game in 96 against the Sonics, and he was doing reverse between the leg dunks with the lob and stuff like that.

As much as I hate him, I'll say Vince Carter; he's all finesse.

Power dunker goes to Amare.

Dr J...yeah Kobe & VC can dunk but Dr J changed the face of basketball with his dunks, Kobe & VC can't say that, they're just doing what's already been done.

Dr J's game was so amazing that the NBA decided their style of ball stucked and absorbed the ABA to get him.

A lot of players have been traded, but few have been traded for an entire league.

lol what are you talking about?? a lot of carter's dunks are nasty, posterizations.

lol then why didn't he do that magical stuff instead of the recycling job he did in the dunk contest?

Nerves? He did try the lob between the legs though.

nerves? lol. you can't be considered the best dunker if you're too nervous to do the best dunks.

back in '97, carter said those dunks he did he'd never successfully done until that day

Tue Nov 08, 2005 9:57 am

lol I never claimed that Bryant was the best dunker in the first place lol

or maybe it was the other kobemvp guy. there seem to be a lot of them resurfacing lol

lol Back in 1996 he was. We are talking about All-time, atleast I am. lol.

Tue Nov 08, 2005 10:33 am

i directly quoted your statement about you mentioning him being the best dunker in 96 and you responded to it mentioning how he tried a lobb in the '96 contest

Of course, posterizations doesn't necessarily have to mean power. For example, he posterized Frederick Weiss, but that was hardly like Amare dunking over Olowokandi. Even Carter's nasty dunks has a lot of flair and finesse to it, it's his style and technique I'm referring to.

How about Robert Pack? During the early nineties Packman was one of the most spectacular dunkers in the league. For such a small guy he dunked on people quite often. He seemed to float forever when he got up. He had amazing springs and was a regular in the top ten plays of the week.

Shaun Kemp is definately up there too. Not just power dunks either, he could really soar. Tommy Chambers had one of the most spectacular dunks ive ever seen with that two hand throw down over the top of somebody on a fast break. He took off from really far out and got face high to the rim. The dunk almost looked awkward like when mascots jump of the mini tramps and have to wait to come down before dunking it. No reaching for the rim there...Though Chambers wouldnt even come close to qualifying as best dunker of all time because he wasnt anywhere near consistant enough. Its just one of my personal favourite dunks. :D
