NY Post - According to the New York Post, Chris Mullin offered Troy Murphy and a No. 1 pick to the Hornets for Magloire.
Mullin had done well dealing with the Hornets as he picked up Baron Davis at last year's trade deadline.
Magloire ended up being dealt to Milwaukee for Desmond Mason.

The Lakers also offerd a package of Mihm, George and I believe a first rounder.

The Pacers reportedly made an offer too, but the players weren't disclosed. Seems like everyone and their mother went after him this year.

it was wise for GSW to go after Magloire but including that #1 pick was too much IMO. If i was Hornets i would have taken it though. Murhpy is a dbl dbl machine and a #1 pick could have been useful.

The Raptors could have traded Morris Peterson and one of our picks (the picks turned out to be Graham and Charlie V) for Magloire as well.

Personally, I would rather have Troy Murphy then Magloire anyways.

Murphy is a defensive liability and as soft as a pillow, plus he's a perimeter player trying to masquerade as a PF. Magloire on the other hand is a true C, a decent defender and a solid inside presence. I mean, how many true C with starting quality do we have in this league? Ten? Shaq, Ming, Curry, Z, Magloire, Dampier, Big Ben, Dalembert, Brad Miller and perhaps Gadzuric&Bogut... Who else? And now you're saying you'd still rather have Troy Murphy, a guy who can't take you anywhere, or Magloire who automatically gives you edge over 50% of teams in the L?
Edit: Fuck you.

I was so confused too.
Murphy gives the GSW an edge in rebounding and a big liability in defense. His roland rating was the 2nd worst on the team after Cheney's, -40. While guys like Dunleavy are +32.
Still, there's some potential there. You can teach defense, and 15/10 men are rare, and 15/10 men that shoot .399 from the 3 point line are virtually extinct.

Id rather have Magloire than Murphy.

FUCKIN SHIT!! I typed out a long ass thing about why I think Murphy is better then Magloire and then I accidentally closed the window. SHIT!!!
I'd retype it, but its time to go to Indy, go Pacers.

true though GSW needs to overpay a bruiser in the paint then an injury prone 6'10 shooting pf

Don't they already have an overpaid bruiser in the paint? If they took Magloire, GSW would have two 6' 10" Centers that can rebound & block shots but not much of anything else.
Murphy is of more use in GS. He's overpaid, but i guess that's Mullin for ya.
Sun Nov 06, 2005 8:17 am
yes foyle is definitely overpaid. difference is magloire is also a consistent low post threat on offense
b davis, richardson, dunleavy, pietrus.. it's a little redundant to add a perimeter oriented PF with bad defense to that mix
this is why i'm not surprised mullin would throw a 1st along with murphy

I see Murphy having a much better career than Magloire. I don't see the logic of Mullin's offer.

I agree, but only stat-wise.

I probably would have made that trade though the Hornets appear to be high on David West, who wouldn't be getting 30 minutes per game with Murphy on the roster. Interesting that Mason isn't getting all that much court time though, I anticipated he would start given the Hornets gave away their starting centre to get him.
