Discussion: Should-be Superstars

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

Postby TheChancellor on Tue Oct 18, 2005 11:58 pm

I was thinking... Al Harrington. He was the Hawks "ONLY" go-to guy last year, and he nearly averaged a double-double. His PPG average doesn't scream consistency or anything, but the man can score, and when 'toine left he was the only one doing it.

What do you guys think?

And I think I'll withdraw my comments on Carlos Boozer and Donyell Marshall.

These the players that I added:

Ricky Davis: Outside scorer

Stackhouse: Outside scorer

Jason Terry: Outside scorer & Shooter (he's not much of a playmake but he can fill it up)

Josh Howard: Outside stopper

Jamal Tinsley: Playmaker (has a sick handle)

Cuttino Mobley: Outside scorer & shooter (always been instant offense but now he's a more efficient shooter)

Hakim Warrick: High flyer (has the single greatest dunk in college ball history..cause Vince got the greatest dunk ever)

Antoine Walker: I put Inside scorer but I'll probaly change it to Outside scorer since he always played like a guard anyway) & Playmaker

Chris Andersen: High flyer & Inside stopper

Eddy Curry: Power (I'll probably add Inside scorer)

Grant Hill: Inside scorer & Playmaker

Webber: Inisde scorer & Playmaker

Zach Randolph:Inside Scorer

Darius Miles: High flyer

Sharif Abdur-Rahim: Inside scorer

Ronald Murray: Outside scorer

Jalen Rose: Outside scorer

I don't think they did alot of players justice. There wer alot of 20ppg scorers that weren't given superstar scorer attributes (most were off by mere points)

No, Carmelo is not underrated. Most players above him are just overrated.

Look at the stats of Joe and Redd, you'll see why.

I dunno if im the only one but i think there shouldnt be too many superstars.
1. You can train em, so if you look at players like harrington there is still lot of time for him to develope.
2. Exept the "Shooter", which is really the type of star lot of "average" players can have, there are only some power player(Shaq, Amare Imo the only two), some really good scorers(AI, Dirk, Kobe and you know what i mean, so only about 10 players).
3. It should be something special to have a star in your team. I mean Denver ,for example, my favourite team doesnt really have a superstar, maybe camby an inside stopper, but Carmelo isn´t that good yet, just not consistent, and Earl an Outside stopper is just not correct.

But thats my opinion, and well it´s kinda matter of taste.
But think about it, imo there are only about 20-25 stars in the nba, well all-
star players.

//edit: 4 sure you can also be a highflyer without being a really good player. But I think an scorer or playmaker is not only a person who can make more than 16ppg or 6 apg.

I think Alonzo Mourning should be an inside stopper. His blocking is 99, and all he needs is two more on defensive rebounds. Although he's old, does anyone agree?

Mourning doesn't play enough in my opinion. He's a good defender, but his kidneys don't allow him to play that many minutes.

Dikembe Mutumbo should be a stopper if anything.

Shaun Livingston should be a playmaker in a few years.

I only agree on:
Chris Webber - Inside Scorer and
Grant Hill - Scorer

I don't want to have too many superstars in the game.

except for STOPPERS.
Alonzo Mourning and Gary Payton should be good candidates

Just my opinion.
