Well, the reason why the US has such a huge amount of these court cases against top notch athletes is because there is a big reward for it... First off, the assaulter is always suspected of the crime and we will always wonder what really happened. Then there's the money... The guys are filthy rich and the US leagal system can get you millions of dollars from the athletes funds, just like that... There is nothing to lose for the "victim" and everything to lose from the athlete point of view. The athlete will possibly lose atleast some endorsment deals or something in the future even if the case is won... If the case is lost for the athlete, man he just threw his entire sporing career in the wind... All the work, all the practises, all the pain and suffering done to reach that level of play to get into a top league in the world... And with a judge wanting to make an example out of the athlete, is tossed into prison and the key is mysteriously lost for the next 400 years...

The athlete takes all the risks and the victim has nothing but to gain from the trial, so why not go for it... There are so many gold diggers in the US that this isn't a far fetched thing at all...

Consensual sex turns into a rape in someone's mind when the right spin is put on it... It's so easy. Easy money...

Who knows what really happened in this case... It's going to get an ugly spin from the victims side and a consensual sex (if the sex happened) from the athlete side... Who knows what is true and what is not???

You guys are fucked up in the head.

As the higher profile athlete, Kobe attracts more criticism because he's got a further way to fall. There's also a bigger anti-Kobe crowd. When it comes to anything involving pro athletes or other celebrities, there's always double standards upon double standards.

That doesn't make it right. A man's life is on the line and people want him to be convicted because they don't like his basketball style. It's pathetic.

That is true and it is also a good point. I'm upset that because they are in the public spotlight and so popular that their chance to a free trial is practically none. I could go and file a report saying Kevin Garnett raped me last night but really it was my Uncle Leo. If a lot of people hated KG then who knows what could happen in the trial?

Good luck finding an un-biased jury. Everyone has heard of Kobe Bryant. Either they think he's a spoiled rat or a good guy and a great basketball player. Either or, his free trial basically goes right out the window. Especially considering he never did anything illegal and this is just a plan to get his money and/or screw him.

Athletes and other celebs have it made, however their life is far from easy. I wouldn't want to be a professional athlete. It's a dream job with a load of shit piled over it.

Thats a similar reason as to why KG left South Carolina for Chicago when he was in high school.

I'm not really upset with the media, I'm more disgusted the way fans and observers are so quick to judge, and then act as if their opinions are facts. The only people who know for sure are the defendant and the victim.

It's just that simple.

You're right, it doesn't make it right. But I was offering an explanation, not a justification.

Woot, good for you Einstein.

I did get your point.
fuck u and have a nice day

Same here. :D

The athletes would usually go for an out of court settlement with the "victim" than letting the case drag on for a long time. Even if the athlete is innocent, the "victim" would still get money.
