Hakeem
David Robinson
Shaq
Mourning
Mutombo
Laimbeer
Sabonis
Divac
Smits
Longley

Ewing was an overrated looser. 4th best of the 90's, at best. If he had played in any other place than mediatic paradise NY, he would have never cracked the top 50 of all time great players, no way!

 Ewing was the best jump shooting foward of all time and had a great back to the basket game, and could play defence. That's why.

Hakeem >> Everyone else.

Possibly the most complete center of all time. He re-defined the position, turning his post-game into an art form, and his defense into a nightmare.

Plus he has the bling to back it up.

Only because Jordan decided to try his hand at baseball.

Personally, I think Ewing and Hakeem is a wash. Either guy can make a case for best center of the 90s, and second best center of all time. To say that Ewing isn't at least number 2 of the 90s is a joke. He had the all-around game. He could put up 30 on you, he could grab 15 rebounds, he could block 5 shots, he could shut you down on defense, his game had no glaring weakness.

You disapoint me saying Ewing is over rated is just bizerk.

He had nobody on his team over the years and continued to play well and if it wasnt for his bad as hell knees he would probably still be a decent center.

Also. Mutombo blocked shots and waved his finger not that good of a player in my opinion.

Smits was def a great center and very underrated but to say he is up there with Ewing and Hakeem who is without a doubt best center of the 90's is insane.

Ok ok ok 2nd best centre of all time that is one of the more disturbing things i have ever heard in my life. There is no way either of these guys are beter than wilt or kareem or even bill russel these guys made the centre position the most important. Wilt was just unbelieveable and easily makes a case for being the greatest of all time, kareem is the games greatest scorer and no one else could win like bill. Saying that ewing or hakeem is beter than 2 of these guys is an injustice. Now im not saying that they werent any good but there is no way that one of them could be 2nd best centre of all time

1 Hakeem(2 rings, threat on blocks, steals, scoring, rebounding, good passer. complete package)

2 Shaq (reached finals and broke rim+ was dominate in later 90s)

3 Ewing(playoffs every year)

4. D. Robinson (70pt man? without duncan he wouldnt of gotten a ring. Ewing accomplish more than him i think..)

5. Mourning ( same game as mutumbo but actually scored more)

6. Mutumbo (could be above mourning, but mourning was a blocking demon too plus
scoring threat)

7. Smits (just a good player, but i think injuries played a toll on him)

damn this thread just shows you how much the game has evolved.
i dont think we could come up with even 5 future hall of famer centers in todays game.

edit- revised my list, shuffled a few players

Hakeem proved his point by dismanlting David Robinson, Shaq and Ewing all in the playoffs and all were convincing.

The Ewing overated arguement is interesting. I think, if you take him outside of new york, and put him in even in second tier market such as dallas or miami, he would not be spoken as highly as he is now. But he was the best knick in their history. but realistically, he doesnt fall in the top 5 centres of all time.
