The way they rely on it is similar. And Carmelo's range isnt that bad, but he relies too much on it. Can you imagine KG's fg % if he was in the post more? Right now theres no real reason for him not be in the post.
yes, anthony has range out to the 3pt line. this is besides the point. we are discussing KG's ability to hit a midrange shot and anthony is not at his level in those terms
He does have an OK mid range shot, im not denying that. Its his elevation and length makes it so hard to block. Its not hard to block becuase he's a ray allen of midrange.
so ray allen = ok jump shot?

blocking a jump a shooter is almost irrelevant because jump shooters who can create their own shot seldom get their shots blocked. the best way to defend jump shooters is to force them out of their comfort zone and to get a hand up in their face when they shoot ..
the #1 reason why garnett's shot is good is because he has the ability to make it. again, being a freak of nature helps, but if the ball doesn't go through the hoop, these intangibles mean nothing
If he has smaller players on him, then why isnt he posting them up?
lol he's not allergic to the right or left block. believe it or not, he's there. and even if he isn't there 100% of the time, it's going in at just about 50% of the time, compared to o'neal's 44% the past 2 years.
i wish someone could pull out the numbers of the ratios of kg attacking the basket via post or drive to him shooting an outside shot and his success in each of those aspects.
Name 3 guys that can actually challange his shot. Tyson Chandler comes to mind.. but thats almost about it.
from the top of head: tim duncan, marcus camby, tim thomas, tyson chandler, rasheed wallace, ben wallace, shawn marion, antawn jamison, stromile swift, rashard lewis...
Who cares what idiots think? Rasheed has ben to the finals twice, won once, and was one game away from winning back to back titles in a season and a half with the pistons. Rasheed D's up great, both off and on the ball. Posts up more than he shoots jumpers, although he does do alot of pick and pop with chauncey, and is the leader along with billups of that team.
Who made the guarantee against the Pacers last season? It wasnt Ben Wallace, or Chauncey, or Rip, or Larry Brown. It was sheed. The team was in danger of going down 3-1 and they needed a wake up call. He provided it.
when sheed had the opportunity to be the man with the blazers, he resisted and/or self destructed. only until he got to the detroit pistons did he get his ring
not even an idiot will confuse rasheed as the one who stepped up, took charge, and the rest of what we're talking about for the detroit pistons. detroit pistons is all about team. period.
as far as i'm concerned, rasheed is the same player as he was in portland, plus a little maturity. wow, it's no mystery wallace appears to be a better player the guy plays with DPOY-ben wallace, one of the better PG's in the league, a great mid range shooter, and one of the best team defenses.
aside from 2 halfway decent games, rasheed was rather pedestrian against the spurs. not to mention that total brain fart of leaving horry open in the corner to drain that 3 in game 5. pistons would have been heading home to close it out.
If you honestly believe troy murphey is more important to a teams defense than jermaine oneal, then i dont know to say to you. You can have him, I'll be picking jermaine everytime over Troy Murphy Smile
maybe you or i are looking at the wrong page/reading wrong. the one i see has murphhy listed as one of the worst, not one of the best. regardless, you didn't refute the rest of that part of my post, so finally we can agree on something

Finally you acknowledge why id take jermaine over kg. He is too reliant on what the defense is doing. KG is more talented, but I'd take Jermaine becuase I think he is a better leader. Becuase he doesnt let the defense dictate to him what he is going to do at critical times.
what is this based on? he's a better leader because of what?? KG is less aggressive even though i've already mentioned that these 2 guys are virtually the same in the 4th qtr. and you failed to respond my comments about JO performing sub par in the playoffs and how (riot also pointed out) KG played better then him in the playoffs, specifically on offense. some more to chew on: in his last 2 playoff games JO scored 24 points on 10-29 shooting, grabbed 14 rebs..... while KG scored 52pts and grabbed 36 rebs in the last 2 games he was in the playoffs
Is that so hard to understand? "kg isnt a god, someone would rather have jermaine oneal instead of KG. omg".
Twisted Evil
lol i'm a fan of both players- it's no sweat off my back if you prefer O'neal over KG. i like having this discussion.
