Mike James is 30, Rafer Alston is, believe it or not, 29.

YEAH! This trade really gave me a good start to the day, while it is a risky trade for the Rockets, I'll think it'll work out well (due to my confidence in Skip)

good move by babcock, i was surprised as hell when i heard of this trade because it came out of the blue (atleast for me.) wish skip the best of luck, i liked the guy even though he did have arguments with the team. welcome, mike james, to the raptors.

I think a better move by Raps. Alston had a bunch of turnovers, and james improved a lot last season!

Trading Alston isn't as bad as it seems. People tend to forget that Alston is inferior to James on defence and is already 29 and has been locked up for like 4-5 years, while James ' contract is around two years. I like this trade, if James can bump his assists up then I'd be thoroughly satisified.

I don't understand why the rockets did this. Now they have 3 guys that NEED the ball in their hands.

Alston is like a watered down version of J Will.

James though, is one of the reasons Detroit won a championship. He played hounding defence when Billups had to sit down.

I agree with Riot, Mike James is vastly underrated and I'd take him over Alston in a heartbeat. But wait, HE CAN DO DA XXXOVAH!!!@12!@

whoever initially said alston is overrated is dead on. i watched a lot of games last year and that guy makes some pretty bad decisions on the court. he's unselfish and he likes it when his teammates score but when he has the ball you can expect 3 things to happen:

a.) overdribbling
b.) poor shot selection
c.) passes are wayyyy too fancy sometimes

I'm with you too. Alston had that great year with Miami as a reserve, key word reserve, and as soon as he came to TO and started, he didn't play as well. James is a welcome addition to a team that needs it.

I'm not siding with anyone here since I haven't seen these two play that much so I can't really judge, but it might be because Alston is more popular especially since he was in And1?

The Rockets did have a bit of a logjam at point guard, so they needn't rely on Skip if they don't have to - I mean, it is sacrificing depth but they do have alternatives. Fine move for Toronto to make, Alston was disgruntled and clashed with Sam Mitchell while Mike James is more likely a better fit. A better trade for the Raptors but not a team-destorying deal for the Rockets is how I'd grade it.

He's overrated in the sense that all internet sites put their headlines, "Alston traded to the Raptors" when the majority of people here are saying it's a better trade for the Raptors.

(Y) I agree on this one. The rockets doesn't have a pure point and thats what alston is. Sura is out 6-8 weeks and may retire if his knee doesnt heal. Mike James is a combo guard and more of a sixth man rather than a starter. So the deal makes sense. Although a lot of negative things have said against alston, a winning environment can change it. I keep my fingers crossed on this one though.
