Celtics executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge confirmed last night that the team has agreed in principle to a sign-and-trade deal with New Orleans that would land point guard Dan Dickau in Boston with a three-year contract worth an average of $2.5 million per year.
Ainge said some details of the deal still must be negotiated, including what the Celtics will give to the Hornets. New Orleans will receive a trade exception in the process.
My personal comment: I dont understand what the hornets want to do with their huge salary cap the free agent market is mostly swept and i think hornets need good players to add to their talented guys jamaal magloire and j.r. smith. Dickau effected hornets ball game in a positive way last season he contributed much i think he should have stayed. As for the celtics they needed a point guard after payton is gone and now they have a young and dynamic rotation of young guys marcus banks, delonte west and dan dickau (and rookies could be there too i dont know celtics rookies much). So pretty good move for celtics i think. What about you guys?
