Pacers' New Uniforms

Indianapolis Star - The Indiana Pacers will have a different look in their quest for an NBA title.

Pinstripes are out. A cleaner, sleeker look is in.

"I really didn't like the pinstripes," said Jermaine O'Neal, who modeled the home and away uniforms Thursday with teammate Stephen Jackson. "I think it's a transition period for it. Obviously Reggie (Miller) is not here anymore, so it's a new-look team. I think getting new uniforms to go with that is perfect."

Settling on the new gear, the 11th in franchise history and first change since 1997, took two years. Reebok designed six uniforms. Pacers officials narrowed the list to two before deciding.

"It wasn't an easy process," Pacers president Larry Bird said. "The players had some say, but not the final say. But you try to get their input because they are the ones that have to wear the uniforms. It's a sleek look."

The Pacers hope the new uniforms will help boost sales. The Pacers didn't finish in the top 10 in team or top 25 in individual jersey sales last season.

"You can never tell how your sales are going to be," Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh said. "It can be all over the map."

I don't like this new uniform, it just looks too plain and old. I like the previous one better.

I liked the pinstripes too, but those aren't too bad. At the same time, they're following the same "plain" trend that so many clubs are adopting. The fact it's another club with blue in its colour scheme doesn't help either. Still, not bad but at the same time not necessarily a change for the better in my opinion.

Personally I've always loved plain jerseys.

The white one's ugly, don't mind the away one though.

I always liked the pinstripes The new jerseys aren't too bad. Even though they're plain looking like most of the new jerseys, they seem very distinct from other team's.

I love the new ones. I loved the old ones a little more, but hey, its only right that the pinstripes go out with Reg.

I think the Lakers' alternate white jersey is the best but to each their own.

Those Away jerseys are hot.

I rather have any team use plain jerseys then try to do something fancy and have the jersey come out horrible.

Teams are falling more and more into the "retro" style nowadays...this is O'D.

Uggh. Those jerseys are horrible. The pinstriped ones are better even without the pinstripes compared to the new one.

Considering Sjack grew up a "blood" I think he's allowed.

I didn't especially like the pinstripes, but I like these. Plain and simple.

They're ok, nothing special. I liked the other ones better. Their new uniforms remind me more of the Pistons uniforms. I guess thats the first step of becoming a championship contender just J/K indy
