He's a free agent, so it's possible, but not likely. I don't know if Orlando has an exception or not - if they do, they could sign Duncan for up to $4.5 mil then give him a bigger contract as soon as they can. They would probably have to do a sign-and-trade with the Spurs to get him though.

I don't think Duncan will be leaving San Antonio though - most sources indicate that he'll be staying put.

i think he will stay where he is, the spurs have had a great year and it would be stupid to split that up.
if Duncan does go to the magic (if) then it probably would be a sign and trade, the magic have lots of players that they would love to get rid of but i cant see it happening. With David Robinson retireing at the end of this season Tim will have sole leadership of the team and would be pretty foolish to turn his back on that + he has a good friendship with Malik Rose and Tony Parker.

Unless he's willing to take a huge pay cut, then the only way he could go to Orlando would be a sign and trade. I don't think the Admiral's retirement will deter him from staying as some sportswriters have suggested.

Yeah, unlikely going to happen.
But just imagine that were to happen....Duncan and T-Mac together. Unstoppable...On most nights a inside-outside domination.

I see.

It's true, we are somewhat leniant on the rule regarding profanity. This was the case in the old forum as well - unless it was directed at someone or used excessively, it wasn't considered a huge problem.

However, if everyone feels that that rule should be more strictly enforced or perhaps amended, then I have no problem accomodating that. That's one part of Discus that was better than phpBB - there was an option to automatically censor words on the banned/profanity list with red dots, or prevent the user from posting the message until they removed the offending words.

There's an option in phpBB to automatically replace banned words with less offensive language. It means you xan automatically replace words with a less harsh expletive such as "damn" or with asterisks.

I guess it needs to be discussed, if the use of profanity is/should be a serious guideline violation (for example, posting in the wrong forum and duplicate messages in multiple forums are also against the rules, but not considered serious violations).

In any event, I have no problem enforcing the rules as per the wishes of the community.

bah, swearing is no biggie.

The Rules section wrote:POSTING RULES

DO a search in all topics of this board (including the Archive Sections) before posting any questions.
DO watch your language. No swear words, profanity or offensive language allowed.
DO check back in a day or so to see if your question has been answered.
DO remember to thank anyone who took the time to answer your question. A little courtesy goes a long way.

DO NOT use profanity or demean other members in the NLSC community.
DO NOT post any adult links here.
DO NOT post any information or questions about illegal software downloads here.
DO NOT post any information or questions about NBA Live cracks, links to NBA Live cracks or illegal NBA Live downloads.
DO NOT advertise your site here. Use the appropriate Announcements section if you are looking for people to join a League.
DO NOT post your message or question to more than one discussion on this board.
DO NOT post your message in a subtopic where your message does not belong.
DO NOT register more than one account in the forum.
DO NOT impersonate celebrities or other posters. Such behaviour is neither funny nor welcome here.

The ones in bold are the ones that bug me. Flaming just keeps growing.

I don't really care about these since they don't often occur but:
DO check back in a day or so to see if your question has been answered.
I've seen many people (newbies of course) ask questions and never show up again. Makes your answers seem unworthwhile
DO NOT advertise your site here.
I would hate it if this wonderful forum turned into my inbox.

---edit---
Just thought of this right after I posted, but when a newbie is signing up they should have to go through the rules so they are aware of searching for topics. That's the most annoying thing. I don't know if this is up to you or the forum makers (phpBB2, right?)

I know, it wasn't prominent for the first couple of months after the switch, but as the new forum became bigger and more established, it became a problem again.

DO NOT advertise your site here.

As you mentioned, we fortunately don't have much of a problem with that one. However, there's always the possibility that someone will signup simply to advertise, so it's there in the rules (kind of like the "Do not impersonate celebrities" rule. It rarely happens, but it's another better safe than sorry rule).

Actually, come to think of it we do allow some advertising, by means of the Announcements section, and posting a link to your website in your signature, as long as it's just the link (and a catchy slogan if applicable :)).

Yeah, it's up to the makers of phpBB, and unfortunately, there's no facility to make users agree to the rules before they signup. It would be good if there was, as you said it would introduce new members to rules and procedure before their account was activated.

on the topic of profanity and such...i don't see the "bad" in using profanity to express strong emotions...like i do...i don't see why i should face consequences for saying something like "that dunk was fucken awsome!"...if somebody uses prfanity towards another member of the forum, without the other member rightfully deserving it...then he should face consequences...in my opinion....but banning "profanity" will just cause a lot of problems and discussions...plus...it will take away the freedom of speech which is such a big advantage of the internet...

just my thoughts...

meanwhile...about duncan in orlando.....well....if he doesn't resign with the spurs, orlando should be one of his 1st choices i guess...but i truly don't see how they'll manage to fit Duncan's. T-Mac's and Hill's contracts there....even if they get duncan in a sign and trade...they will have to let key players go and will still be way over the cap...not allowing themto sign free agents in the near future...

If the Magic acquired Duncan, I don't think they'd keep Hill as well, if only due to the luxury tax. If Duncan truly wants out of San Antonio via a sign and trade, then the Magic would probably have to use Hill to get him.
