KG will be in the league longer than Hakeem and therefor will probably break many of his stats. Hakeem played in a different era where there wern't as many "big meN" that played a ton of defense. The Rocket's never won a championship with hakeem until Jordan "retired"

I'm pretty sure that Zo, Dikembe, and the rest of the guys in the 90's disagree. Besides, Hakeem could kill most of the "big men" that play a ton of defense today (besides Big Ben, TD and KG, I can't tell exactly who are those big men), he was a monster on offense.

Nobody won championships until Jordan retired. KG hasn't won anything yet, so, there's your logic.

what....Hakeems era included Dikembe Mutombo, Shaq, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning just to name a few. Not to mention these were 7 footers.

KG's era so far hasn't had that many big guys. Ben Wallace, Duncan..who else plays exceptional D?

As Matt and Drex pointed out, there were actually quite a few talented big men during Hakeem's era. Let's not forget the 80s either, with guys like Kareem and Moses Malone still highly effective and amongst the top centres in the league. The Dream had some good battles with Kareem early on his career.

As for breaking Hakeem's stats, I believe KG's a fairly long way away from most of them. A lengthy career doesn't always equate to all-time records either.

anyways I'd like to know in which games The Dream faced Shaq and what were their stats and such. However, I did get to see the match up between Hakeem and David Robinson in the playoff, the year David won the MVP award hahahah... really Hakeem made him looked like a fool :lol:

this gotta be the worst post i have ever read. the big men in the dreams day were far superior to any of the centers in the game today. only shaq is even worth mentioning with the guys from that era.

Hakeem played 18 years in the league, KG is currently going to 11 years, and is turning 30 in 2006. So if he plays till he's 37, he'll play 18 years in the league. So at most he'll play 2-3 more years, and he obviously won't be as effective at that age.

So KG who's career BPG is 1.7 BPG and high is 2.17 BPG will somehow beat Hakeems career 3.09 BPG, and high 4.59 BPG.

His career 1.4 SPG and high 1.7 SPG will somehow beat Hakeem's career 1.75 SPG, and high 2.60 SPG.

KG is right there in rebounding right now, but remember when he's in his last years his numbers will drop, and like Hakeem, that will skew his career stats and have them drop. If KG averages 22 PPG for the next 9 years, his career PPG will end up at 21.1 PPG, lower than Hakeems still.

If he averages 10 RPG [taking into account the last years] for the next 10 years, his career RPG will end up at 10.6 RPG.

Assuming you were serious, I don't exactly remember the year he added the H so I'll assume we're comparing the Ralph Sampson-duo days with the championship years.

The early days were filled with sick athleticism. Don't get me wrong, his fundamentals were always incredible, even at a young age but not until the 90s was he really able to make DPOYs look silly. That's when he started making his teammates better and really making opposing teams alter their gameplan in attempt to stop him.

I think this entire thread is full of misinterpretation. The question was "who was the better big man in their prime" not "who had the best career" or "who was the better player". Either way, Hakeem wins no matter how you interpret it.

Hakeem by far. Most people play quite "ugly" in the post, but his post moves are art. I only wish there was another center that has the amount of moves he has in the post, because nobody plays the post like he did.

i was serious hehe. i wasn't sure which year he added the 'h' either. i'm thinking the year he sported the goggles. by then he was already a beast but i'm a little cloudy on the details since i only got to see the rockets play twice a year back then
