Damon Jones is a guy who's never really had a shot at playing the point and he still will not. Last season he was with the Heat that has Wade going about with the ball. Jones was there to shoot the three. If he isn't such a great point man, well he doesn't have to be. His role will be pretty much similar as it was with the Heat.

Jones will probably bring up the ball but he'll give it up to Hughes and James after that, so they can do their thing. With Hughes and James going around, that's going to mean a lot of easy and open shots for Marshall and Jones... Which is a very good thing...

Could LeBron average a triple-double this season? Already? I was giving it a few years, but look for him to be getting double digit assists on most games this coming season. He finally has guys around him that can score! He might have a harder time getting those boards, but he'll be close to the triple-double...

Friends -

I have to unofficially announce that Lebron James will not be leaving the Cavs anytime soon now. With a team featuring Larry H, Z, Marshall, D Jones, Gooden and the almighty Lebron they're a playoff lock!

Jones just plays the PG spot but he's not a PG. His dribbling sucks against pressure and he cant create shots for himself or anyone else. Even in Detroit when he stepped onto the court, he'd bring the ball up and then dish it to stackhouse or barry and they created things.

Cleaveland is on heaven right now..what can you say the team is now "complete" from all positions.Damon will help James especially when James is slashing to the basket the defense will collapse then there he is (Jones) from a open 3!!! (Y)

perfect fit for the Cavs. (Y) They didn't need a pass-first PG, since they have LBJ and Hughes to handle the ball, but they definitely needed a 40%+ 3pt shooter.

This could be a difference maker for the Cavs. (Y)

It's a great signing, they finally got him. Since Williams is in Miami and Cleveland needed a point guard it works out great.

lol one of them will likely be on the floor at all times, and they have Eric Snow who is a real PG on the bench too, so it's no problem at all.

The signing of free agent Damon Jones will make a world of a difference to a Cavaliers' team that needed a point guard and better 3-point shooting.

Jones had the NBA's fifth-best 3-point field-goal percentage (42.3) last year as a member of the Miami Heat. He also was fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.57). Jones, in his seventh NBA season, averaged a career-high 11.6 points.

But the biggest change Jones will bring to the court and to the often stale Cavs' locker room is a major dose of comic relief. That was apparent during Thursday's news conference when Jones was introduced as the newest Cavalier.

"I'm one of the top five shooters in the world," said Jones, who paused for effect before breaking into a wide grin. And when coach Mike Brown answered questions from the media, Jones whispered in the microphone that he was the fifth best shooter in the world. Jones continued to display his sense of humor when asked about getting dunked on by LeBron James during a game last season. He is constantly reminded about the play.

"I had to hear about that dunk for two months straight," said Jones, with a wide smile. "That [dunk] was the third reason why I came here. Instead of him dunking on me, now I can throw him the ball to dunk on someone else."

But the Cavs did not sign Jones to a four-year deal worth $16.1 million for fun and games. Jones is also serious about his game.

"I love the game of basketball," said Jones, 29. "I wouldn't trade what I do for anything. When I'm out there, I want to give the maximum out of my skills. . . . I'm very serious about my job but I also like to entertain. While I'm entertaining, I'm still doing my job to the best of my abilities and I keep smiles on peoples faces."

Before adding Jones, the Cavs did not have much to grin about with only one point guard on the roster. The addition of Jones will add depth and experience as he competes for the starting position with Eric Snow.

"Damon's a quality shooter, who can make shots for himself and he also spreads the court so other guys like LeBron, Larry Hughes and 'Z' [Zydrunas Ilgauskas] can take those shots," said Cavs GM Danny Ferry. "Just his presence is going to create more options and [signing] Damon was part of that equation."

The Cavs do not have any more cap space after signing free agents Jones, Hughes, Donyell Marshall and the re-signing of Ilgauskas. The team is still in need of a backup center and an additional post player since Anderson Varejao will be out "indefinitely" following arthroscopic shoulder surgery. Varejao suffered the injury last month while playing for Brazil in the Americas World Championship qualifying tournament. Ferry, meanwhile, said the Cavs remain interested in power forward/center Jahidi White.

Despite not having any more cap room, the Cavs are permitted to sign additional players to minimum contracts.

lol poor jones gotta live with lebron who dunked on him badly hah

I'm sorry, but Damon Jones CANNOT create his own shots, as Ferry said. (N)

Cleveland seem to be putting the finishing touches on a fine offseason. They've added depth and seem to have added players who will be able to be effective with LeBron James as the centrepiece. Everything looks good on paper at the very least, if Dan Gilbert doesn't meddle once the season begins that should translate to a better campaign than last year.

By addding Damon, I think they will certainly be a top-5 team in the east. Now they have a player that can put it down from the three point line, so the defenses can't always collapse on James when he penetrates, or atleast not as much. Damon Jones' three point shooting will keep the defenses more honest then they had to be anytime last season...

Hughes, Damon Jones, Marshall adding to the team without any major losses equals to a very good off-season and a run at the title in the east...

Look for BronBron to score a number of triple-doubles not seen since Oscar Robertson played this game. Triple-double mania!!!
