A league source told RealGM’s Christopher Reina late Tuesday night that Calvin Booth has reached an agreement on a two-year contract to join the Washington Wizards . The second year of the deal is a player option.
He will travel to Washington later this week to officially sign the contract.
Booth was waived by the Bucks in August and was designated their amnesty victim.
The 6-11 center was drafted in the second round by the Wizards in 1999 and then went on to do two tours with the Mavericks that surrounded a three-year stint in Seattle.
Booth was also being pursued by the Clippers and Cavaliers

wow, it surprises me that three teams were interested in him
although I'm glad he gets signed by a team. He can be the thrid center of a team.

Somewhere there's a newspaper article that goes a step further with the heading "Mr Booth goes to Washington". And they should be ashamed.
I consider Booth one of those "has his moments" bench players. He'll see some minutes here and there backing up at power forward and centre, providing a little help in limited minutes.

Im glad we - Cavs - didnt sign him, we already got several worth PF/Cs....
and also coz he sucks

The Wizards need big guys that can fill up the paint.Surely they need Booth.Good that they sign him since they lack that position. But his not the type of player that can do all you want to do as a center. He is just a typical rebounder nothing else.. as for scoring, just a few maybe 6ppg.

Yeah. Booth isn't a quality center but he can give you at least good effort and energy on the court.

He's a good shot blocker, and has a decent mid-range shot. He'll help as a backup, but nothing much should be expected. Decent rebounder, could be better...

he isn't a good player, except a shot blocker and will probably be on the ir, but good pick up by washington
Thu Sep 08, 2005 8:25 am
I don't think he'll be on the IR. Remember their's only one IR player this season, so teams have 14 guys in the active roster. Also the Wizards currently only have on backup big man if I'm correct, I'm not sure if Ruffin is signed for this season.

Ruffin re-signed with the Wizards a month ago.

Timothy Duncan,
Ruffin re-signed with the Wizards a month ago.
he is much priority than Booth..they need gutsy plays of Ruffin since they loose K.Brown(a future allstar)Booth will most likely slide into 3rd option centre.

good thing the cavs' didn't sign him...would have messed up everything
Thu Sep 08, 2005 10:57 pm
Cavs already have Z,Gooden, marshall(who is apparently plays much outside),Martynas(a rookie)..Surely they dont need big guys now so they build backcourt players which is really good..i mean that is the example of how team rebuild from last year's early exit in the league.

cavs' have martynas
