Marbury breaks down into tears

Apparently, he was crying for about 20 minutes in an interview about Hurricane Katrina. We're not talking about tears, actually down-right crying. He says he might donate $1 million to the efforts and he stressed that it wasn't about the money.

Even though I "hate" Marbury because he left the Timberwolves in an ugly fashion, deep down inside I still have much love for him and this interview impressed the hell out of me.

Yea , I never could imagine in my life to see starbury crying , but didn't he cry when he got drafted as well?? Hes tough , strong , and good-hearted . And hes a normal human-being like all of us . (Y) to Starbury

Man, I didnt expect him to break down like that.. I can see him being upset but crying like that? wow.

Marbury really is a good guy. He has a good heart. I've always disliked him because I feel he lacks loyalty and a winning attitude, but as a person I think he's probably a pretty good guy.

Props up to Marbury; that's really impressive. He gained a whole new level of respect from me. Deion Sanders was asking all athletes to donate $1K, but this is a bold move by Marbury. I guess he goes off my most hated point guard list.

Same here. He is officially off the list. He has a very good-heart
:applaud:

Well, Marbury just lost a lot of haters out there apparently. Kobe should donate something like this too to really put the rape case behind and help show the public he isn't a bad guy as he may look like right now.

but good job by marbury. hopefully this unselfishness of him will be shown on the court too and more W's for the knicks!

anyone got video of him crying

Wed Sep 07, 2005 3:14 pm

I respect what Marbury did. A real man will always show his emotions no matter what the situation is. (especially crying for men)

Wed Sep 07, 2005 4:59 pm

when he was drafted he also cried.well the guy has a soft heart.but i think his sincere about that.Go NY Go!!!

Wed Sep 07, 2005 5:13 pm

he deserves an oscar nomination in my books

EDIT: now before anyone starts flaming me. i'll say this. you go marbury! please the million dollars is really a big help. push it through mate (Y)

Wed Sep 07, 2005 7:53 pm

Another noble gesture there. (Y)

Wed Sep 07, 2005 8:01 pm

cool. to lazy to watch the video but good to see him do something noble and not just boast above how he thinks he's the best pg in the L

I see nobility in giving 1 million $ to the victims of the disaster, but I can't say that I hate him any less as a player. BTW, what is with this pussy trend that we're seing lately? KG, AI and now Marbury? I mean, I agree that we (men) should show more emotions, but this is getting absurd.

I saw the video in Sportcenter...didn't expect him to break down like that.

Thu Sep 08, 2005 3:36 am

on the side note:

best crying scene: jordan 1st championship
worst crying scene: kobes press conference re: rape. gayass forced tears

Thu Sep 08, 2005 3:47 am

I don't know why people are saying they no longer hate him... I mean, he showed normal human emotion to something tragic.. did you guys think he was an alien or something?

I don't like him on the court not off the court. The comment of being the "best pg in the league" probably ticked a lot of poeple off since he can't play as a team.

Naw, it's not often an athlete would break down into tears and donate a million dollars over a hurricane.

Like Emiliano said, it's different on the court and off the court.

I know, I was going to say the same thing. It's nice to show emotion and all, but crying because of basketball to me is kinda dumb. It's not that crazy, though people will just say they have heart blah blah, I think crying b/c of it is dumb.

You can cry when you win or lose or something. Marbury's I can see, but normally you don't cry like that from something that isn't directly affecting you...

here is the link where he starts crying:

I think it's an incredible gesture to donate all that money, and was impressed by the crying, but I still don't like him.

It's how he's on the court that makes me dislike him.

NEW YORK, September 6, 2005 -- "When I see all those babies float in the river... I think about the kids... My kids... I just hug my own son... He doesn’t even know why..." With these words, Stephon Marbury broke down in uncontrollable sobs and simply could not continue.

Yup. He's officially off the list as Emiliano said.

Thu Sep 08, 2005 12:43 pm

dont tell me you guys havent cried in all your life. come on.!
we all passed this stage more than once in our liftetime. at least the guy is symphatetic and all. and it is official he donated 500thousand dollars already. which is hefty amount compare to the whole bobcats association who donated 25k

this is a double post not spam

Thu Sep 08, 2005 12:52 pm

i hope many other nba players and organization should donate to the red cross and help the needy. seems like the US government have their handful now somewhere else
