Finley to Spurs

I'm going to start preparing those voodoo dolls of Finley and Duncan now. See ya.

Now, can people start talking about the Spurs being a team in transition and how they're getting old players, just like the Lakers? How about NVE and Finley hurting chemistry? Huh? I bet they won't dammit, because the reporters are already so biased. Agh, I hate those people.

Thu Sep 01, 2005 7:56 am

Damn, and I liked him..

Thu Sep 01, 2005 8:00 am

i said at .Org wrote::shock: How do they afford all these players. First is Oh boy Oberto or what ever his name is then Nick the Quick and Now Finley they have 2/3 of Dallas's west finals run back court rotaion. Good signing tho There three signing have been waayayaaaa better than Miamis imo.

The spurs still kept the team intact , and only got better . GOD What a team they have this year . Does this mean bowen loses his starting spot , because i doubt manu will.

Thu Sep 01, 2005 8:06 am

Start looking for the 2007 NBA Champs because 2006 is over.

Thu Sep 01, 2005 8:06 am

Same thing with Miami.
Posey is better than Eddie Jones.
We basically added Antoine Walker and Jason Williams.
IF we put Walker and Williams on IR, we have the same team.
We will sign back Damon Jones, now that the Finley thing is out of the way.
How is this different from Spurs getting NVE and Michael Finley? They added the same amount of players, but OLDER.

How about Miami adding Wayne Simien and Earl Barron? They were AWESOME in the Summer leagues. The bias towards Miami is too obvious.

For 1 , the spurs have signed lockeroom friendly players . And the heat have players that dont nesscarilly make the smartest decisions . Spurs got players who can only help the team , not damage . Walker and Williams could hurt the heat with the way they play.and by the way , the spurs have vets that want to win championships just as much as anyone else in the leaugue.

Exactly. Walker and Williams won't do anything but hurt the heat. Atleast Walker will hurt the Heat..Jwill who really knows at this point..

It's going to be a rocky road for Miami..but if they can get everyone under control then It will be a great NBA 2006 Finals series.

wow to my surprise...I never thought he will land to San Antonio :D :D

I like what the Spurs did more cause they're already the Champions and to add NVE and Finley is just WHOA!

I so hope they suck though.

Thu Sep 01, 2005 8:17 am

Oh shit, San Antonio got Van Exel too..I forgot. Man...Spurs...wow...man...the Spurs!!

Thu Sep 01, 2005 8:17 am

Do you remember what Walker did to Boston when he came back? Everyone played better. Even Ainge admitted that he was a positive influence once Walker returned! Jason Williams hasn't really had that much trouble in a while. How do you know if Finley or NVE can't damage a team? NVE loves shooting 3s as much as Antoine Walker (considering the lesser minutes he had) and has only a slightly better 3pt percentage than even Walker!! They have NVE, Udrih and Parker in one team? Udrih will get less minutes and probably get agnry with the Spurs. They have Bowen, Ginobili and Finley in one team. Do you take out Bowen and take out his amazing defensive abilities, or do you put in Finley and have two guys who are basically in attack mode? Where does Brent Barry fit in all this? Look at all the trouble they have to deal with.

I bet that had Finley signed with Miami, the article would have been a negative one.

Shiet, he played in Atlanta everyone is gonna be happy after being saved from that hell hole. And Beno Udrih cant complain hes a 20 year old pg who cant bring the ball up the court under pressure, he has no credibility to want to play after his nba finals.

Thu Sep 01, 2005 8:27 am

Have you forgetten Finley isn't a bad defender either??? not as good as bowen , but hes not an all attack player , he can play D . And what , who knows if Walker is going to continue playing that way , it was his contract year and I guess he wanted to make a good impression on teams , but Noone will know till the Seasons starts. All those players in the spurs just add depth , and it allows thee starters to play alot less minutes , so they will be able to rest until they are needed on the floor. NVE and Finley won't hurt the team because both are Longing for a title . So I don't think they will cause any problems . And They both add veteran leadership to the spurs , something they already have in Duncan . If I'm not mistaken , the only player in the Heat who has won a championship is Shaq , He's the only one who has a winning expierience to bring to the team.

I'm just saying, just admit the tiniest of possibilities that Finley and NVE can be bad. I mean, it is making the roster A LOT older for one thing. Wasn't that the Lakers' biggest criticism? I bet if Lakers added Finley and NVE or something, we'd be having a totally different discussion. How is this that different from adding Malone and Payton? Let's do a checklist.

1. They were both positive locker room influences. Check.
2. Both great defensive players. Check.
3. They were both old. Check.
4. They both added veteran leadership. Check.
5. They both haven't won a championship. Check.

Now, ALL THESE CRITERIA except number 3 applies to Finley and NVE. I'm just saying that there is a POSSIBILITY that it might be bad for the Spurs, just that. All I'm asking for is an objective point of view, not this worshipping bullshit that they put out nowadays about the Spurs.

Also, remember that Bucher (that asshole) said that Finley was bad locker room influence (dunno where that came from). But I bet now Bucher is going to praise Finley until God strikes down the Finley statue or something. See what I'm saying? Just because Miami is Miami and San Antonio is San Antonio, people are going to look at things differently.

The difference is , the Spurs don't have a Kobe and a Shaq . anyways , it might turn out bad , but i doubt it .

ohh, yeah right, 06 havent even started yet and you are saying so stupid things !

Thu Sep 01, 2005 8:39 am

HAHAHAHA! I love it, looks like the Spurs are going to win another NBA Championship. Just adding to what they had last year and their bench is just deep with NVE, Finley, Barry and Horry. Sorry Heat fans, but it looks like you may have to wait til 2007 or later to win a championship.

Thu Sep 01, 2005 8:41 am

If there is any justice in the world, someone will hit Duncan's knees with a hammer.

yo, back down a little pit ! they havent played a one single game, so it's stupid to say things like: woaaaa, they are going to win another championship etc.

Thu Sep 01, 2005 8:43 am

huh???I dont understand what you meant by that , bangyounh

Thu Sep 01, 2005 8:44 am

The Lakers all thought adding Malone and Payton would mean a championship. Those Lakers did beat the Spurs though. (See, there are various levels of hypocrisy here.)

It still doesn't change the fact that the Spurs are also a "former all star studded team"

By the justice in the world thing I mean that I hope someone will hammer Tim Duncan's knees to make it "fair".

Thu Sep 01, 2005 8:54 am

Malone and Payton were older than Finley and Quick, Thes two arent being relied on to be starters, hell they could both miss the season and the Spurs would still be real good.

Malone and Payton were STARS, SUPER STARS there whole career up to that point
Finley and Van Exel have both been All stars but youven never said Nick Van Exel is the best PG in the L (maybe quick was elite but...).

All im saying is these guys know how to be team players, pieces to the puzzle. You wont hear complaint about pt or touches from them all year.

Thu Sep 01, 2005 8:59 am

YES!!! THANK YOU GOD!!! PREPARE FOR A REPEAT!!
God, Im so happy..... This is great, increases our chances of going back-to-back. Sorry, but im just too damn happy.

Thu Sep 01, 2005 9:00 am

You can't compare Malone and Payton to Van Exel and Finley. The Spurs again do not have Kobe and Shaq. Everyone on the spurs will pass the rock and still have the ability to score. They are the most professional team in the NBA which most the time adds up to a championship.

Theres a tiny chance it goes wrong..but again you can't comapre the Spurs to the Lakers...
