 Huge surprise for me there. I was not expecting him to be a SPUR. Good sign for the spurs.

Tue Aug 30, 2005 9:03 am

My Blazers can handle with Telfair and Jack. :)

Good. Pops will reign him in and he can be another clutch player next to Bobby. If they get Finley as well, better start looking for the 07 champion. 8-)

Tue Aug 30, 2005 9:22 am

YES! We needed a guy like him. He can be great for the 6th man award. This will bring more depth to the Spurs. Go Spurs!

Great sign for the Spurs, 3 quality PGs in their squad now! (Y)

Too bad this didn't knock then out of the Finley race. :|

They wont sign Finley I dont think, they dont have much cap space.

Could this mean Finley's made his decision though?

Tue Aug 30, 2005 12:14 pm

Pop said that if the Spurs ever sign Finley, they would release Devin Brown. And I do not think the Spurs will release Devin since he has great potential and he's young.

Tue Aug 30, 2005 12:31 pm

Nice! Spurs just keep getting better and better.

San Antonio can offer about $2.5 per year. That's the same amount the Timberwolves can, meanwhile the Suns can only offer $1.1 mill and the Heat can offer a whopping $5.5 million.

Tue Aug 30, 2005 2:13 pm

Personally i think this takes them out of the running even though they can still offer him $2.5 mil... I reckon its down to Suns & Heat

Tue Aug 30, 2005 2:17 pm

HEY NOW! Popovich said he would be "surprised" if Finley signed with the Heat.

I heard Finley was very impressed with Garnett coming down to talk to him personally. Hopefully *crosses fingers* Finley will come here to have a bigger role on the team!

Money is not an issue for Mike. He still will get his more than fat paycheck from the Mavs... If he wants to win a title, as it is assumed, his best bet would be San Antonio.

cool. making the NBA champs even better. hope it doesn't affect much of beno's playing time though. hopefully, finley signs as well

Tue Aug 30, 2005 6:44 pm

It will likely affect Beno's playing time which is the downside of the signing. But the Spurs still get stronger and I doubt Van Exel will stay more than a year. Beno is developing great and now under Van Exel, he can take advantage of the situation and learn from a veteran.

Tue Aug 30, 2005 8:26 pm

Fuck, why do Spurs always get good players... secretly
Always getting someone nobody expected, and somebody good...

:x

Tue Aug 30, 2005 8:37 pm

Well, I didn't see that coming. Bad news for Udrih.

Don't forget Juan Dixon..

Great pickup. If the Spurs get Finley too... back to back fo sho... well they will be early favourites again!

Tue Aug 30, 2005 10:09 pm

I don't think they need Fins to go back-to-back....they're odds-on favourites again....once again the main competition will be the Pistons....lets hope the Pacers get their acts together and move to the top of the East
