Nuggets Sign Luke Schenscher!

Postby SkipToMy_Lou on Fri Aug 19, 2005 7:32 am

The Denver Nuggets have signed rookie free agent center Luke Schenscher to a contract, team General Manager Kiki Vandeweghe announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

Schenscher, 7-1, 255, averaged 7.3 ppg and 5.4 rpg over his four-year career at Georgia Tech and ranks fifth all-time in school history with 157 blocked shots. He averaged 10.1 ppg and 7.3 rpg last year as a senior. As a junior, he helped lead the Yellow Jackets to the 2004 NCAA title game and averaged 14.0 ppg and 11.5 rpg at the Final Four.
Schenscher played with Denver at the Reebok Vegas Summer League in July, starting all six games and averaging 5.0 ppg and 2.7 rpg in 14.7 minutes.

Sensational!! Good for Luke. Hopefully he'll put the experience to good use and develop into a dependable reserve.

Another Aussie in the L. Thats awesome for australia!
I hope hes not a Paul Shirley (Phoenix Suns player who got 30 mins all of last season).
Hopefully he can get a few minutes in and do something, then come back here and kill the shit NBL players, and I might actually watch a game.....nah.

The only real positive about this is that he's Australian... not sure what Denver were thinking, but good for him. They've already reported on the news today that he signed, being from South Australia people suddenly become baskebtall experts overnight.

I think Bill Simmons benefits the most from this signing. Now he's got two Australian centres to bash.

Denver should have signed Matt Nielson in front of Luke. But I guess it's all business.

With Camby, Martin, Nene, Najera and Elson already in the roster, I think Luke will be a Mark Pope type this year, stucked on the end of the bench.

yeah i hate that, people like sandy roberts, bruce mcavaney and everyone else reckon they know everything about the game when an australian does something in the nba. annoys the hell outta me because they dont even say things right and they reckon they are top stuff. lets get a "dunk shot" in...........

It irritates me more when people who normally hate basketball and trash it suddenly care when it looks like we have an opportunity to win at an international level, or when the US lost in Athens.

 the worst one I've seen was David Koch talking about Bogut.. "He's a 7 footer with the skills of a guard" he then stared into space for about 15 seconds, the whole studio was in complete silence.
