Cassel Cant Belive They Take Jaric Over Him, What A Baby

"They're going to be at the bottom again," said Cassell, predicting in a telephone interview Wednesday that the lowly Clippers -- who haven't reached the playoffs since 1997 or won a postseason game since 1994 -- will pass the Wolves in the Western Conference standings.

"If they think Marko Jaric is a replacement for me, they're out of their minds," Cassell said of the Wolves management. "I'm happy for him. I'm happy he got paid. But that's not an upgrade. As players, we know."

Actually, Cassell didn't sound entirely pleased that Jaric, in the sign-and-trade transaction, landed a six-year, $37.9 million deal. Last fall, Cassell pressed the Wolves for a contract extension, seeking an added two years worth about $14.5 million.

"Six years? Forty million?" Cassell said. "Yeah, right. Yeah, right."

"Minnesota never got out of the first round until I got there," Cassell said. "Then when I got hurt, everybody knew [my value]. I don't take things personally. I know I was accused [of selfishness]. Spree and I came in as 'rebels.' But they had to blame somebody."

Cassell's primary concern again might be business. The Clippers have a history of not extending players' deals and, in fact, might have acquired Cassell because his $6.1 salary comes off the books next spring. He still has not reported for his physical, though he has been scrimmaging informally in Houston.

"I'm going to have a of a year," Cassell said. "That's not even my concern. I just wish it was with my main man, Kevin Garnett. We made each other better. He made me an All-Star; I made him an MVP."

"Sam Cassell, traded by the Timberwolves to the Clippers for Marko Jaric, has refused to take a physical with his new team and is demanding an extension on his contract, which has one year to go. Cassell is asking for a two-year deal. The Wolves hope this doesn't kill the deal."

Yeah, me too. If he's that good, why is he crying like a little baby. It shouldn't be a problem to take the Clips to the Conference finals, considering the Clippers are now where Minnesota was when he arrived..

It's obvious he wanted to stay, he's said it a few times that he wants to stay here. Him and Garnett were very close buddies. But it's a buisness and Cassell doesn't fit Casey's system.

What a sook! I used to like this guy, but now...
Yeah ok so he wants to stay with KG, but thats his fault, he was selfish and didnt be the leader he should have.

He should go to LA, turn them into a playoff team, then he can brag about all that shit. Otherwise hes just a sore loser.

I agree with zmac. He should go to the clips and help them get to the playoffs and let the wolves regret their decision of trading him.

'Cause KG was always considered as an MVP candidate, it's not like he gave him the skills or anything.

What an asshole. I can't stand when players do things like this.

I wish Cassell wasn't on an up and coming team with players like Maggette and Brand. I wish he was stuck somewhere like New Orleans or Toronto.

Marko averaged 9.9ppg (41%FG - 37% 3pt) and 6.1apg which are good numbers but I doubt they garner $40 million. That was his best year too. Cassell on the other hand wanted close to $14 million for a couple more seasons, which to me isn't asking much seeing as how he is more of a proven player and a veteran. He isn't asking for a 4-7 year contract or anything. Last year Minny sucked, had an off year and he was injured and still averaged 13ppg on 46% FG though his 3pts suffered. The year before when he was healthy he was at 19ppg (48% FG - 39% 3pt) and 7apg which is way better than Marko will probably ever average anytime soon. I'd take an older Cassell no matter how ugly he is :D . If Cassell is healthy but a year older I figure he will still give you better than 15ppg and 6apg which is more than Marko will provide. I think Spree was more of a team problem than Cassell was. Besides he is a better player than Spree is now. All in all I would still choose Cassell hands down to lead my team before Marko. The point guard runs the team and Cassell is a proven winner. Marko has yet to prove himself, hell he has yet to make it to the playoffs too.
