Reggie Miller, Jerome Williams, others waived

Postby Indy on Tue Aug 16, 2005 6:03 am

The amnesty cuts have to happen today, and Reggie Miller, Jerome Williams, Ron Mercer and Calvin Booth have all been cut.

For some reason, this doesn't seem right, waiving Reggie. But, its a good move considering that we don't lose any players and get rid of 6 mil in salary.

Yeah, it's so stupid. I'd honestly get rid of JCrawford or Houston with the amnesty.

Houston's no good if he's injured and Crawford has terrible shot selection and is too streaky.

And about Reggie, since hes retiring, isn't there already some rule for that? I thought so since the Knicks have been trying to get Allan Houston to retire.

Jamal is still pretty young and has loads of potential. I'm not a real big fan of him, but it'd be a huge waste to dump him.

I hope Jerome Williams gets picked up by the Raptors. He's one of my all-time favourite Raptors and even though we are jam packed at the power foward/small foward spot, I'd love to see Toronto pick him up.

If Reggie is waived, that means that there is now 0% chance of Reggie coming back. Kind of sad...because I thought maybe if the Pacers are nearing a championship Reggie would change his mind and return.
Bored.

Nah, i was preety sure he'll definitely retire :| ..But when they win it (and they will :) ) they will dedicade it to him for sure.. I would like to see YJD in Indy too, perhaps if they replace Croshere with him :?:

bad move by the knicks in my opinion.. JYD was all heart and just a good guy. Always see him on the bench very much into the game. Puts his all in the game like Charles Oakley did running for rebounds. They should of used it on Shandon Anderson instead. JYD does have SOME trade value.

T-Wolves waived Hoiberg because he isn't going to play this season so they won't want to pay his luxury tax. If he comes back and plays next season he'll sign with the Wolves.

I thought Allan Houston would be a no-brainer to waive, Isiah must be sure hes going to retire.

I think Allan is coming back... As unlikely as it seems, if you read the article on what Thomas has to say about dropping JYD, I think Allan Houston is almost ready to play on the NBA level again... It would have been a no-brainer if this wasn't true.

Dropping Junkyard Dog was probably doing him a favor... He wasn't going to get that much playing time behind all the Knicks big guys so it was probably a good move for him. As you guys said he still could go to a team that needs him and the Knicks weren't one of them...

And the Knicks have the salary cap spread so thin that any relief they can get is needed...

I think we will see Allan Houston back on the court this season... As creepy and unlikely as it would seem... They would have used the "Allan Houston rule" on Allan Houston if it weren't so.

Allan Houston beats the system. I have to say, "Jerome Williams Rule" just isn't as catchy.

Not too many surprises with all the amnesty cuts, even with New York since rumours had already surfaced the Knicks wouldn't cut Houston after all.

NBA.com wrote:Dallas waives Michael Finley.

Houston waives Clarence Weatherspoon.

Indiana waives Reggie Miller.

Milwaukee waives Calvin Booth.

New Jersey waives Ron Mercer.

New York waives Jerome Williams.

Orlando waives Doug Christie.

Toronto designates Alonzo Mourning as its amnesty player.

JYD was NY's best hustle guy, best rebounder and most versatile player. He also had a nice mid range J that few knew about.

I wonder what next for him.

I hope we go after JYD, we could use a hussle post player like him and his general upbeat personality would be sweet melody in the lockers.

I feel upset to see JYD cut, such a nice guy like him shouldnt have been dumped. Why didnt they use it on Penny or Maurice!

Best of luck wherever you end up Jerome :(

No, he still had another year left on his contract, the managment would have had to pay him another 6 Million this year.

Bring JYD back to Toronto! The fans loved him here in Canada.
Preparation will only take you so far. After that you've got to take a few leaps of faith.
