Joe Dumars denied a rumor that Detroit was talking to Minnesota about a trade that would ship both Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace to the Timberwolves in exchange for Kevin Garnett, according to the Detroit Free Press. Dumars said he wants to keep the starting five intact and build around it.

Thank you....this trade would never happen.
Both parties wouldnt get rid of any of those players...just a stupid rumour!

Jermaine O'Neal: 17 points (7/16) 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 0 steals, 2 turnovers, 6 blocks, 6 fouls

Where was this ownage you speak of? I don't know if Indiana won all of those games or not, but you did say "Jermaine owns KG" not "Indiana owns Minnesota"...

We all know that KG is a better player than Jermaine O' Neal...

However, against KG, Jermaine has had many great games. In fact, Jermaine owns KG.

From what I've seen Jermaine can post up KG at will. But he can post anyone up. To say he owns Garnett on a few possesions is Sit-esque.

Stats don't mean everything. My point was that Jermaine basically has his way with Kevin Garnett, and he does. We beat Minnesota twice last season, and JO was effective in spreading the defense, and was able to put up the numbers that he is capable of putting up. I wasn't talking about his effectiveness at stoping KG from scoring. You'll notice I said we don't have a problem with the Pistons scoring too many points. The problem is their post up defense being so good. So posting Garnett's numbers prove nothing.

However, against Rasheed and Ben, JO has never had two great games in a row against them. In order for him to have a monster game against the two Wallaces he has to exert all of his energy, thus, the Pistons would be making a mistake to do this trade.

Those stats don't lie. If he "has his way" with Garnett, then his (JO) stats wouldn't be close to, if not lower, than his usual season averages.

Oh, and JO only played against Minnesota once last season.

I don't really get that. Statistically he's not exactly been a star against Garnett either, and with his injury problems who knows if he'd even be playing. I don't think the Pistons would pass up the chance to have one of the top 3 players in the NBA just because you think O'Neal "owns" Garnett. Besides, last time I checked Miami were in the East... it's not a 2 horse race between Indiana and Detroit.

This past season, Jermaine was still injured when playing Minny the first time and he still put up 22 and 8.

His numbers against the Wallaces while being injured are much less impressive. All I'm trying to say is that Detroit's defense inside will be majorly hurt.

Besides, last time I checked Miami were in the East... it's not a 2 horse race between Indiana and Detroit.

You're right. If you bring up something about one rival, you have to bring something up about the other. Its just common courtesy. Wouldn't want Miami getting their feelings hurt.

I'm sure Shaq's distraught... but at the same time, what effect would having KG have against Miami? I mean you think they would struggle against Indiana with KG instead of the two Wallaces, but would that be better or worse against Miami. Better still, will Miami be better than Indiana?... you don't have to answer that one actually, I think we all know what you'd say

Detroit would struggle mightily against Miami. Kevin Garnett does not have the size to match up with Shaq. The big hole in the Detroit lineup would be at center, obviously, and Shaq would have his way with whoever they put out there. But if this trade was made, I think you would see another trade on Detroit's part to get a center.

Better still, will Miami be better than Indiana?

As you guys have stated, this trade is a false rumor. I've been on vacation and I haven't really been keeping up to date but when I heard that there was a Garnett rumor I had to check it out. Really, any Garnett rumor is stupid unless Garnett demanded a trade. There really is no way the Wolves would trade Garnett in his prime unless he demanded it. And he didn't.

As for the whole Garnett/JO thing, you are wrong Indy. Garnett owns JO on many different levels however Garnett and JO hardly ever guard each other. You say JO was banged up but what about Garnett? He was playing on a bum knee that he shouldn't have even been playing on. Plus, he was being doubled and triple teamed everytime he touched the ball. So don't use the JO injury-excuse, because Garnett was in just as much pain. But the difference is Garnett doesn't miss games.

Garnett would struggle against Shaq. But you know what? A lot of people struggle against Shaq and Garnett isn't the kind of guy you put on Shaq. A. Garnett would get eaten alive, B. he would foul out in the first quarter, and C. it would wear him out completely. You would have to put a bigger and stronger guy on Shaq obviously.

whatever. this deal makes no sense for both teams. If Shaq was out West then it'd make more sense for Detroit, but in no way does Minnesota win by tradin away Kevin Garnett. Minnesota needs a supporting cast around KG.

But I think just like AI,KG cant win a championship in the west..But for that trade, that was just a humor around the league..But if if only it happens it will favor Twolves....
