I dont think its a good idea now that he doesnt want to be a net.
If he changed his mind again after Kidd and Thorn talked to him then yeah its okay, but If hes going there unhappy there is just gonna be problems....
or he may like it....but there could be problems

Congrats on 2000 Indy. (Y)

Indy wrote:Personally I think this is all SAR trying to speed up the process. His agent probably told him to say that to try and get NJ to act quickly and pull this off as fast as possible.

I'm inclined to agree.

They could, but I believe they'd have to wait 60 days before they could complete the deal.

There are certain restrictions when trading players who you've just signed or acquired through sign-and-trade deals; in the past it's been 60 days.

And i skipped my 3000th one... so I tranfer the right to you, hehe...

On topic: Reef said he didn't want to go to the Nets after all. Now the Nets say that they want Reef to sign and there's no problem whatsoever... :? Will they sign a disgruntled guy or what?

I got not idea which team do Rahim want to play with. But since his failed the physical test, he never really happy about his situation in New Jersey. Maybe he really wants to play with a better team than the Nets.

man this one has been a rollercoaster ride.. realgm are saying it's leaning towards being a done deal (for SAR to be a net).. but I'll feel a lot better when I see sheef holding up the nets jersey (should make a good sig)..

he could but..
  • he doesn't want to play there under the randolph/darius/sheef rotation
  • he's an unrestricted free agent and has no obligation to sign with portland
  • portland are cost cutting for tax reasons + lottery bound
  • he's aging and wants to play A post season game before he retires
  • virtually every other club persuing him would be offering the full MLE, which portland wouldn't necessarily want to exceed
sheef wants to play somewhere he's guarenteed playing time, a shot at the finals, and a reasonable salary.. the only place that can happen is NJ.. only extreme sour grapes will queer this deal

to say that he doesn't want to play there would be a very literal and I'd wager incorrect interpretation of these events.. To my way of thinking he's just anxious to have a done deal and settle in.. even though he'd still likely get a full MLE you don't want to go to another team being the fish that john west rejected..

his public announcement was just him and his manager saying "sign me or don't but don't drag me through the mud".. I don't think that will make a shred of difference when he finally puts on the jersey.. he has a good relationship with kidd and lawrence, so despite this initial unpleasantness I think it will be all smiles and candy come post season next year

He was traded,he didn't sign a contract as a free agent,I think that only if you sign as a free agent, the team have to wait for 60 days.

And Abdur-Rahim will be a Net and Nets will get to the finals this year :!:

I've been thinking about that, you better not steal my idea.

There won't be any more trouble with this, Shareef will sign with the Nets and no, he doesn't not want to play with the Nets. Shareef was just mad because he's had the problem with his knee for his whole career and it has never affected him, but once Kidd and Lawrence talked with him again everything went well.

This could be the best opportunity for Shareef because he has a chance to start at PF, something he can't do in Portland or San Antonio.

Abdur-Rahim won't be a Net :(
Nets have rescinded their trade with the Portland Trail Blazers for forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Nets President Rod Thorn announced. The Nets and Trail Blazers had agreed on a deal, pending a physical, that would have sent the nine-year veteran to New Jersey.

Wow, so this kicks the Nets down a notch, and the Blazers are still stuck with him. Where's he gonna go to now? Any speculations?

He must have a real bad injury for the Nets to drop him... he seemed to be a perfect fit
