Looking at the stats, I found that this man was GREAT! his best all-around year was in 96-97 when he averaged 21.4 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 7.3 apg in 80 games. He also had another great season in 99-00 with 25.8 ppg, 6.6 rpg and 5.2 apg. Man, if you think about it those are even better numbers than the great but not so almighty Scottie Pippen.

Grant Hill posted number similar to what Lebron James is been posting these past two seasons.

Anyways, I was told that once you injured your ankle it will never be the same. My doctor told me so when I went to see him and he said my ankle will never be the same, it wil eventually heal but it will never be as strong and faster than before. I have injured my ankle twice already.

Anyways, I could only wonder what could've been if had Grant Hill never got injured. So sad and if you think about it that could happen to anybody even Lebron James.

Is that really true about the ankle before? Or would that just be in adults? Because I've sprained both ankles before, as well as my knee (which was from falling off my scooter) and I'm sure tons of teens have had that happen to them..

First of all, while you're growing it wouldn't matter as much. Secondly, a sprain isn't usually that bad.

And yes Grant would be a monster.

It depends on the nature of the injury. After all, the injury Michael Jordan suffered in his second season didn't prevent him from having a great career.

I still think Grant Hill came back too soon. I think if he'd elected to sit out an entire season sooner after the injury things would be different. I admit I'm not an expert on anatomy or sports medicine but it really seemed like he was rushing to get back from what turned out to be a rather serious and problematic broken bone in his ankle.

That's why it was great to see him play as well as he did this year. Seeing him start in the All-Star game was great too; I think he deserved it, just as an acknowledgement of how he'd finally gotten healthy and was playing better than anyone would have imagined.

One of the reasons the transition between the 80s/90s era and the current generation wasn't smooth is because of what happened to guys like Grant Hill and Anfernee Hardaway, in my opinion. Those guys were meant to be the established veteran stars when players like LeBron and co entered the league, the way the great players of the 90s were at the top when Hill and Penny came in.

Had he not be injured, there's a good chance we'd be talking about Grant Hill was being one of the second-tier greats. He put up some great stats and was an outstanding player, but he didn't win enough, wasn't clutch enough, didn't dominate enough to be up there with Jordan, Magic, Bird, Russell and co. I think had he not been injured, he would have been able to conclude his career in a similar fashion to Karl Malone.

Grant Hill injury or no injury was/is one of the greater players ever in the NBA, one of those guys that can do everything on a team. Im glad he had a successful season last season, AllStar, nice stats, good contributor.
Hope he has a great career.

Grant Hill was the prelude to LeBron James... If he hadn't shattered his ankle, he could be a 27/7/7 player some time in his career... But the most impressive thing he's done in his career was that he sat out almost 4 seasons rehabilitating, and returned last year to make an All-Star appearance. Plus, he's a regular nice guy, not a ghetto idiot. He has my respect.

grant hill and penny hardaway should be at their peaks right now being the franchise players they should be instead of the shells of their former selves. they should be in a situation to compete for a title by leading their teams instead of being thrown to teams with little finals appearance chances never the less playoff appearances

But the bad things is that both Hill and Penny are still having injury problems. They both probably want to retire within the next 3 years. So they both should sign to a championship team, I reckon they both should play for the Spurs to win their first title, but I don't think the Spurs accept any US players other than international players.

I'd agree on Penny, he seems to be suffering nagging injuries again. I disagree when it comes to Hill though. He played around 67 games and his sitting out the final stages of the season - when the Magic were already eliminated from playoff contention - was a precautionary measure for an injury unrelated to his ankle problems.

Grant Hill was great....I remember when he entered the league he was awesome....he was hyped up to the max, a lot more than Jason Kidd, and he was hyped up himself....he was ultra smooth and could do everything....so smooth....smoothest since George Gervin perhaps....

I loved Grant Hill in Detroit, he was the reason i started to like basketball. I wounder if he would take less money to play in Detroit and win a chip?

anyways , as you can tell by my avatar , i am a fan of grant hill's . i only have seen him play a few times but his comeback story amazes me. i really look up to the guy , and what amazes me more is that he comes back from all this injury and manages to average 19 ppg!!! to grant hill!

Yeah Grant Hill did made a promising comeback last season, playing more than half the season, which is a good sign for him and the Magic. Hopefully, he can play all 82 games this season and take the Magic back to the playoffs since 2003.

Struggles? This was his finest season in years, he was actually healthy and productive for the first time since leaving Detroit.
