Sixers sign Gai, Randolph

In Gai, we get an amazing shot blocker. Also his amazing defensive presence makes me think he could be the next Ben Wallace :D . Think about it. Small school. Undrafted. Small for a C. Great D? Both Gai and Big Ben share that.

In Randolph, we get a player who was a key member of some Duke teams over the years. His high shooting percentage (50.6) could help us.

Assuming Green comes back, we would be running...

C S Dalembert/M Jackson/M Bradley
PF C Webber/D Gai/S Randolph
SF A Iguodala/J Salmons/J Mashburn
SG K Korver/W Green/A McKie
PG A Iverson/K Ollie

Still a borderline play-off team.

I'm saying the 6ers get in the Playoffs at the 8th seed.

If Webber kicks it up a notch, they might go higher, but no more than 6th. It's not the Sixers' fault, it's just that too many Eastern teams have vastly improved on paper this off-season so far.

Teams in the east that are clearly better then the 6ers: Miami, Indiana, Detroit, New Jersey, Cleveland, Chicago (If Curry AND Chandler are back)

Teams that might finish higher: Chicago (If Curry and/or Chandler is gone) , Washington, Boston

My early predictions for the East at this point are:

1- Indiana

2- Miami

3- Detroit

4- Cleveland

5- New Jersey

6- Philadelphia

7- Chicago

8- Washington

I don't see Boston and Ainge's youth movement paying off in 2006. From 2007 and on, we'll probably discern the difference.

Ok fine, I'll induldge myself again.

This is assuming Chicago re-signs Curry and Chandler, and based off records, not playoff seedings.

1.) Indiana
2.) Miami
3.) Detroit
4.) New Jersey
5.) Cleveland
6.) Chicago
7.) Boston (Al Jefferson will be absolutly outstanding this season)
8.) Philly

hhehehe, it's bad luck to not support your team on any occasion, nut I don't think even th eofficial Raptors have playoff hopes for 06. Especially with little team tinkering.

If they resign Curry and Chandler, they'll be in there instead of Toronto or fighting for that place.

In all honesty, the Bucks have a better chance at the playoffs then the Raptors.

Oh ye, i forgot about them. But look, raptors loss only Marshall. I know he was a key bench player but we got Calderon, Villanueva, Graham, and Slokar. Bosh has added some muscle and has grown a mini frow. It all depends on Mo's game play. Sometimes he is hot from the field and sometimes he is not. Hopefully he can be a consistent key player.

Toronto will not make the playoffs, you can count on it. I hate to say it, but it's the truth. We're mediocre.

I've gotta agree, even myself as a Raptor fan knows their's right now at least 12 better teams, let's say one team gets an injury problem, 11 teams, and aonther has some problem that makes them not play to their potential, still 10 teams. Raptors are still out of the playoffs.

We also didn't actually do good last season lol, what did we win, 33 games?

Gai will never be Wallace. No-one will ever be Wallace again, to many unique attributes and circumstances.

But Gai can be a very soild defender.

Well "everyone" is wrong. Pape Sow will just be another ho-hum bench player that everyone hypes up. I hope I'm wrong though.

I don't think he'll be a Ben Wallace type of player. I forgot to clearify that part. He isn't much of a shot blocker. He is just a good athlete. Hopefully he can improve.

I haven't seen Deng Gai or Shavlik Randolph play but we'll see this upcoming season how these guys do.

You just might be.

Pape Sow is a pretty good defender, he could be really good defensively but his offense is another story.

I watched a couple of games when he played but the one I remember most is against Boston, where everytime Antoine Walker touched the ball he had it poked away or stripped.

He has pretty quick hands for a PF / C, and uses his feet pretty well on defense too.

Deng Gai: Will lead the league in fouls if he gets minutes.

Randolph: Sucks.
