I don't know about stronger but he is DEFINITELY not faster than Yao. There're several threads about him, look around. They even have some video footage.

We started a thread on this a while ago. Also he ain't faster than Yao. He runs awkward cause of his bone structure.

And he can jump a whopping 4 cm off the ground!!
Thu Aug 04, 2005 5:11 pm
You try being a 2,5 metre long guy... It ain't easy... And besides he doesn't have to jump any higher does he?
He won't win any dunk contests, but if he has good hands he will be a force in the NBA... Muresan didn't have the coordination to becore a truly great center, but if he has it, he can... I don't know what I'm talking about any more....
If you want to see a FREAK of nature, you should see Shaq play... He is the most dominant force in the game and he is one of the fastest centers today and no one can defend him. Biggest, Strongest and Quickest... How freaky is that...

I agree, it is very hard to find a player like Shaq doing what he does. Players for example like Yao which is big but not strong and quick though. It is hard to find the next Shaq.

sun ming ming will scare a lot of kids in the nba i tell you.....

Amare?
Fri Aug 05, 2005 12:08 am
Amare isn't as big or strong, he's a more "next generation" version of Shaq (Next generation meaning more fast play, up and down the court, fast breaks).
Sat Aug 06, 2005 3:15 am
Amare is more like a corvette... fast and powerful. Shaq.. I don't know what car he could be... can't think of an extremely huge fast powerful car.. what sets Shaq apart is he is FAST for his size, Sun Ming Ming is not FAST at all... he MIGHT have the ability to be your average role playing center. When you grow up watching Shaq play, everyone else just seems to be playing in slow motion you know...

Sun Ming Ming a force in the NBA?
That's the funniest thing I've ever heard.

He can still be the brick wall... he said so once, anyway...

Weeelll, he could be the best towel waving force isnce Jack Halley...

Shaq is a Hummer.
Sat Aug 06, 2005 8:13 am
If you're not fast, can you learn to be fast? I dont know maybe running everyday outside, running the treadmills, doing fast paced activities, i dont know maybe im talking nonsense.
Sat Aug 06, 2005 8:16 am
by the way talking a little bit about the Live game, Yao looks huge in my computer monitor, and he jumps kinda funny.. i wonder how funny ming ming would look lol

You can "learn" to be fast with the right activities, although I don't think "learn" is the right word.
But the thing is, for a person the size of Sun Ming Ming, I don't think he can ever really "learn" to be fast, just because for a person his size and length, it wouldn't be an easy task.

He wouldn't need to learn to be faster, more like.. learning to utilise his size so he can take bigger steps for the illusion of moving faster. I mean.. if he can move a quarter as fast as Iverson, but have a stride of 4 times of Iversons, he could keep up with him right? (sorry extreme comparison) but IMO, the closest he'll come to the NBA is in the alphabet.

There we go! He's probably first version Hummer. Maybe in a year or two, he'll be an H2.

You might be able to improve your footspeed by shedding weight and building up your leg muscles and you could develop your footwork to improve lateral quickness but it's easier said than done. It would be impossible for someone of Shaq's build to develop Allen Iverson-like speed and quickness.

Haha. Good comparison.

As if you can find any current players who is at least 7 feet tall with over 300 pounds. Amare? Not even close. Amare maybe quick but he does not have the size like Shaq, huge wide body with quickness that allows him to dominates on both ends. There are alot of 7 foot tall players in the NBA but can you also find players with over 300 pounds. Probably not.
Sat Aug 06, 2005 9:17 pm
oliver miller baby... he's definately over 300lbs... but don't know how heavy he is
Sun Aug 07, 2005 8:21 pm
During his last stint in the NBA Oliver Miller was listed at 315, though that sounds somewhat generous.
