Damon Jones to Clevland or Miami?

Postby MiAmI2005HeAt on Fri Aug 05, 2005 11:45 am

Damon Jones refused his offer from the heat a month ago.But now the
heat have got J-Willams.Damon Jones Met With The Clevland Cavs to
negotiate a deal but so far no movement. But the Heat Continue to presue
Jones. But if jones were to re-sign with the heat he would back-up Jason
Willams and the heat are not sure he would accept that after coming off
his greatest year in his career as the Heat's starting PG.So Where do think
Jones Is Headed Towards LeBron or Stays Put with his buddy Shaq :?:

You certainly do make a lot of threads around here.

Back on topic, from the two choices that you gave us I think Damon Jones should go to Cleveland because he would give them the outside shooting they need. However, I don't think Damon Jones is the right PG for Cleveland, they need a guy who can distribute the ball more than shoot the ball, and I don't think Damon is that guy.

If Damon is going to re-sign with the Heat, then he should have done it earlier, not this late. Now with J-Will in the mix, I don't think Jones will re-sign with the Heat. Cavs, a possible destination since they are going to need some backup PG. I think Damon might want to sign with the Cavs. Cavs need some 3 pt shooter and Damon is the right player. I see a lineup of Jones, Hughes, James, Gooden or Marshall and Z.

If Damon Jones signs with Cleveland, then that might be a signal for the Cleveland to trade Luke Jackson..... To the Raptors.....

if he resigns with the Heat he should start over Jason Williams but he won't because Jason Williams can pass without looking!

Damon would be the PERFECT fit for the Cavs, both for the team's sake and his own. The amount of open 3s he'll get to shoot with both LeBron and Hughes kicking the ball out to him could make him a 15ppg scorer there, and with little to no sweat. Plus, the Cavs don't really need a pure PG having LBJ and Larry handle the ball most of the time.

Yes he would fit like...like a missing jigsaw piece????....anyway
He would still get the same numbers in Cleveland and hit just as many 3s.
Hes not the perfect PG type pass first player, but 4-5 assists from him, 4-5 from Hughes and 9-10 from LeBron plus all 3 of them being able to handle the ball, that would be great!
I really hope this happens!!!!!

lol, yeah!! we all know passing without looking is probably the most important trait of a point guard! there is no way i would start someone who couldnt pass without looking over someone who could!

He could still see decent minutes in Miami, should he remain there. He can play at both guard spots allowing him to get minutes behind both Wade and Williams, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him heavily eat into J-Will's minutes (or even take the starting job) if he proves to be the better fit. The question is whether he'd be willing to choose that scenario, since it would require a lot of patience.

Cleveland is a better scenario for him as an individual, it's a situation that would be mutually beneficial. However, even though I don't think Miami's made the right moves this offseason I do think they remain closer to the Finals - maybe even a championship - than Cleveland is or will be for at least another season or two.

Yea. I think he should stay in Miami because of his relationship with Shaq and his outside shooting stretching out the defense for Shaq and maybe even Walker.

if he stays with miami then the heat are stacked... it could help them later on when walker or williams doesn't work out and they are traded

I'd like to see him in Cleveland, so they'd finally have a 3-point shooter they've been needing.

What about Donyell?

He is great pals with bron, from what ive seen.
He went to the Bike A Thon and talks to him a fair bit....
Plus he would start in cleveland so he would prefer to go there, I dont think money will have to do with where he goes.
I think he will end up in cleveland.

I think Jones is more of a SG, an undersized on, than a PG. He's not a great passer, but he has a good shooting touch, and can score if needed. Either way, cleaveland is a high possibility.

A guard that can hit 3s. Not a big man.

I know there's probably no difference, but I look at guards as the more consistent 3-pt shooters.
