Who cares, I'll be getting both for $4.50 each so no skin off my nose, I only hope it creates healthy competition

I'm sticking with Live. Besides, EA Sports fucking owes me because I had to play 2K5 the whole NBA Season because my Live 2005 kept freezing.
It better be good, EA. Or I'll fucking incite a riot outside the EA Sports Building.

This competition is good for both video games. I hope to see each game raise their quality a lot compared to last years.
I am definately excited to play each game but in the end I suspect I will be play Live

I'm buying both 2K6 & LIVE06 but after seeing those new clips, Im much excited now to have 2K6 first..
The game was refurbished from scratch and the major factor for 2k6 big improvements were the MERGER of NFL / College Hoops & NBA inside drive brains.. Just imagine MULTIPLE Think Tanks working for NBA 2K6!!!
Isomotion was better, Cross-over moves are fluid, Graphics are still superb even on PS2 version, Dunks & Net animations are now realistic and they EVEN have their own SIGNATURE moves for star players, Franchise mode is much deeper, VIP system & CRIB features....
These 2 great ball games have a tough competition this year and I LOVE THEM BOTH!

In reality... The 2k6 has some features that have been missing from Live (like the team chemistry), but on the other hand who's heard a word about Live dynasty mode??? I haven't heard a word...
So I'm not too worried... About the drills system... We already have 82-100 games to play over the course of the season... Adding more games to that (drills and 5-on-5 workouts) aren't making it any easier to play on the quantity front.
And besides, pure PC player... So 2k series doesn't really matter...

Actually the 5 on 5 workouts with rookies is something that Live desperately needed last year. I mean how can you accurately scout a 7'3 C when you've got to try and take his man off the dribble from the 3pt line every time.
Sun Jul 31, 2005 7:38 pm
Wow, I'm impresed.
This is basically live 05 with a lot of improvements (financial aspects, team chemistry, etc)
I have never played a 2k series game although I own a PS2. But this year I'm getting one unless EA blows me away with new dynasty and gameplay features. If it is just the same dynasty as 05 and the freestyle superstar thing is added, then I'm buying 2k6 first.

You can just back him down and use post moves. Oh wait, this is nba live. Forget what I said
NBA 2K6 looks impressive. But in actuality it
always does. I will be buying both though.. but theres no guarantee's I will be keeping live. It looks terrible at the moment. I'd probably have more fun pulling out live 2002 and playing that.

Are you kidding? I'm happy they limit it, having a team of all 99 players or getting guys to 99 in many things is not realistic or fun at all.
...
"And to stop all 99's from happening, you can only workout one player a month and you can only use the same drill two times per season. This is the ultimate tool in molding your new draft picks as you can work him out in the areas he needs the most or in the areas your team is looking for a boost, and the increase in attribute points can be significant."
Live's was better, you couldnt really get people to 99 unless you used the cheat, all Live has to do is make the drills playable. 2k6 makes it so u can only go like one workout a month... where is the realism there?
Their's no Dynasty points in NBA 2K, so unless they decided to add something similar to that, their would be no way of limiting the amount of practicing you could do

well IMO .. you should be able to practice once a week, but kind of limit the increase in stats, like in one practice you arent neccisarily going to go oup 1 or 2 points in anything.... i say practice one a week with maybe 2-3 players but you can only train the same player about 2 times a month

Even not 5v5, but 2v2. In many workouts, teams will bring in 2 Centers, and 2 PG's, and they match up with each other and work on pick and roll, posting up etc.
Playing 1v1 with a center is kinda stupid, same with PF's...
Mon Aug 01, 2005 10:01 am
Yea. NBA Live should add variety to the practice mode like Madden's Superstar Mode or just Madden's regular practice mode.

Yeah exactly, it's impossible to get a feel for any players other then fast scoring point guards with the current 1 on 1 set up. I mean even shooting guards, since there's so many 6'1 shooting guards

they just get every shot blocked by the guy guarding them.

Probably the best scouting game would be 3-on-3 games... You could assign three guys from the rookie pool and play it as a one end game... Street stuff, you guys know what I'm talking about.
So you could take three rookies into one game and try them all out. Maybe cut the practise days to 4 or 5 so you wouldn't be able to scout too many players more than you can at the moment.
Also after playing the game the scouting report should update accordingly. Maybe get a bit more accurate picture of the players who played.
It is kind of frustrating to play the practise sets with the big guys, but it's doable... It was the first try around at the scouting stuff and I expect it to improve some how. These are the little things that change from year to year that are never mentioned in any publicity stunt or anything of the sort. There are always differences between the games that don't make any headlines and this could probably count as one of them...

Maybe Summer League/preseason games should be added to the game to get a feel for the rookies you are trying to scout.

yes sir, that would be great. summer league should be included but i dont see it being in one for the next few years.

I'll probably mostly just use the 5 on 5 training for rookies. That way I can try out 10 of them at a time, and it'll give me a better feel of how good they're going to be in the actual games.
Mon Aug 01, 2005 5:52 pm
For the look of the trailers and the descriptions they give...I'm leaning towards 2k6 over Live for the first time ever..
Mon Aug 01, 2005 8:41 pm
This is a competitive market, both games are trying to bring their realistic gameplays. Tough choice here but since 2k6 don't have a PC version I will buy Live 06.

BTW, great dunk -
LMAO. -smh- @ that. the dunk itself was ridiculous. just as "arcade" as the 2k fan boys say Live is. but whenever 2k does some over the top ish like that, its Sim? i hate fan boys
Tue Aug 02, 2005 5:20 am
hm... there are good things about 2k and good things about live.
to me they are like 2 totally different games, therefore there is no compairson between them to me, still though i play live more just cause it has this kind of community

naciremadream wrote:Alcoholic wrote:They brought in team members for their other games.. why can't EA bring in their Madden team to help...
dont want that, madden 06 looks like 05 with updated rosters and lame passin cones. any1 who buys that on ps2/xbox = sucker, just wait for next gen at least..
Live has shown MAJOR improvements from last years crap game.

well, that's because Madden is so perfect that they ran outta things to do to it...
and in the second video, Gooden's defense is pretty accurate
