::INTRODUCTION::
I've given this a little bit of thought.. we have somewhat of a small army of photoshop artists (ranging from amateur to advanced, but predominantly intermediate), it occured to me that you could (NAY MUST!) do some pretty cool shit with 20 odd artists.. or atleast make things alot easier for each other..
Although I could come up with some pretty crazy ideas (very tempted to pull a group of you together train you in cartoon animation and make an animated comedy series.. maybe another time), I think that the latter of the two previously mentioned possibilities (making our lives as artists here easier) is probably preferable for the moment..
So that got me to thinking,
what is it that most of us do here as artists?
We make signatures and wallpapers that predominantly involve nba players
How do we usually go about that?
We find a picture of a desired player, if it's not already masked/cut we do that, then we come up with a design, find an appropriate font and finally wrap it up by making a few adjustments.
How can we make this easier so that as artists we can spend more time developing skills we want to improve?
Use this thread as a resource for people to "publish" either masked/cut players or background designs to be used in signature and wallpaper creation.
It seems like alot of us spend time reinventing the wheel which, although for a period of time gives us genuinely useful experience, eventually deprives us of time where we're using our creativity to create unique and original art.
There are several things that need to be considered in terms of standardisation and possibly hosting that need to be addressed but first I'd like to see what people think, answer any questions people have, etc
::HOW IT WORKS::
Gatherers
purpose: To feed the cutmen.
example: "Gatherer" is just a novel term for anyone who posts a link to a picture of an nba player to be masked/cut. The higher detail the better. Basically this can be anyone, they don't necessarily need any PS talent, but without having people providing the resources to be used the whole thing kinda falls flat.
Cut Men
purpose: To mask images of players
example:After a Gatherer has posted an image a "Cut Man" would say, I'm cutting that image, they cut it and then they post it.
Designers
purpose: To create artistic content to be used in backgrouns of sigs
Consumers
purpose: Our audience
example: In the sig request thread someone might say I want a T-Mac sig with design x, that says "I smell cookies"
Finishers
purpose: Bring together requirements, designs, and cut images to form finished sigs
These roles aren't mutually exclusive, any one person can be all of these or one of them.
