Rahim much closer to signing with the Nets

Tue Jul 19, 2005 10:43 am

Yawn.

I sort of expected him to go here, but I've said it before, I'll say it again:

He doesn't play good D, he isn't a winner, all he'll do is add offense to a team that already has enough offense.

They will, however, win the Atlantic.

No doubt they'll win their Division.

PG: Kidd
SG: Carter
SF: Jefferson
PF: Rahim
C: Krstic

Their fast breaks will be a moving dunk contest.

I think you're not giving enough credit to Philly and Boston. It'll be a close race between those 3 teams, IMHO.

not bad. as the article points out, the nets will probably using the trade exception to acquire SAR. see, that kmart trade isn't as bad as some have pointed out

nice lineup on paper. just a little bit too early to count out the rest of the atlantic division, you think? lol

The same could be said for Van Horn, who Kidd made into a valuable part of the 2002 Eastern Conference Champions...

And Abdur-Rahim is MUCH better than Van Horn.

Abdur-Rahim had to get out of Portland :shake:

Now Miles and Randolph can rule the West in 2008

Good pickup... although it is true that defense is not that lineup's strong point... which might be very important come playoff time.

ahh.. I think it's more like Bassy, Rudolph and Webster (?) who will do that!

And Reef to NJ is a good move by the Nets. Team chemistry might be a problem though.

Rahim will only help the Nets in the offensive end, defensively Rahim don't do much steal and block.

Tue Jul 19, 2005 8:36 pm

I still feel it's a good move, though I wouldn't give him "final piece of the puzzle" status.

Blocking and stealing isn't the staple for good defense, though Reef isn't much of a defender either way. He's okay, not good, but not a terrible defender by any meas.

New Jersey just needs a PF or PF/C who is a defensive banger that is either a big rebounder or shot blocker, or even better both.

I like the move. Look for J Kidd's asst numbers to go even higher. Depth is still going to be a problem.

Apparently, the deal has hit a snag because Rahim failed a physical.
