You're owner of an new Nba expansion team. You have the rights for the number 1 pick overall of that respective year and the players available are the following:

Michael Jordan
Magic Johnson
Larry Bird
Wilt Chamberlain
Bill Russell
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Shaquille O'Neal

Questions:

1. Not knowing a single thing of what they have done in their respective career but just the fact of their college career, the scouting reports, so on and so forth, who would have you picked to be the main guy in your team? and why?

2. Knowing what they've done in their career, would you differ from your answer from question number 1 and pick a different player to start over and take charge in your new expansion team? and why?

1. Based on his phenomenal college and HS career, I would pick Shaq simply because he is a behemoth in the paint and has a lot of quickness for a guy his size.

2. I would pick Michael Jordan, knowing his career, because simply having him in the court changes the game around, and to me (and many others) he is the greatest player ever in the NBA.

1.) I would definitley pick Wilt the Stilt. His numbers at Kansas were flooring. It was obvious he would be a superstar.

2.) Jordan, simply because he is the best ever.

1. Shaquille O'Neal. It would be illogical to select a guard with the first pick, especially when you have 4 amazing centers around. Basically Wilt and Shaq would be a tie, but Shaq's size is much more overwhelming than Wilt (I think). Guards can't win championships, Shaq has the best body of the 4 centers. Potential is usually more important than what you did in college in the NBA. For those reasons, I pick Shaq. (Shaq is not overweight or anything when he's first drafted...if someone didn't know..)
2. Michael Jordan. He sells tickets more than any other person in the universe AND you can win championships! Hello $_$. (You're an expansion franchise...you need $_$ not championships anyhow! However, you can do both with Jordan!)

1. I would certainly take a big man. The question is just who would it be? Kareem, Wilt and Shaq would all have much, much more potential than Russel, so it would have to be one of them. Shaq had the rawest offensive game coming out of college, while Kareem had the strogest repertoir of offensive moves. Wilt was somewhere between. Wilt and Shaq would probably have more raw psychical talent than skinny Lew. But at the end of the day, I would have chosen Wilt, despite of the Shaq's size and Alcindor's hype coming out of HS and college. Like Jabbar, he changed rules and filled statistic categories with great numbers, but he had that important edge when comes to the athleticism.
2. Shaq. I know I should burn for this, but I'm certain that Shaq in his prime would win championships with a top 10 perimeter player and decent supporting cast. Russel needed zillion of Hall of Fame players to win. And Jordan had Pippen, one of the Top 3 SFs of ALL time, who could get Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals by himself. I don't believe any of the Shaq's past teams could do that without him in the middle. Don't get me wrong, Jordan is THE man, top SG of all time and the absolute winner, but I also believe that there are greater chances to win a championship with the top center in the league.

bear in mind, that if Wilt had those numbers in college bball TODAY, he'd be consensus no. 1.

And if we could tranfer his dominance in the 60s into the new millenium, then I'd still pick the stilt over MJ, and surround him with teh proper supporting cast that he lacked during his actual career.

1. Wilt Chamberlain-with his size, strength and talent he would have been my number one pick based on scouting reports.

Michel Jordan- he was virtually injury free, played his best in the playoffs,demanding lots of attention to be a guard, on the floor leader, dominates mentally & physically(demoralizes most opponents), extremely competitive, makes teammates better, had the abilit to control a game on both ends of the floor, you can never bet against him or the team he plays for, the list goes on
