Dalembert To Re-Sign For $75 Million Dollars?
14th July, 2005 - 6:11 pm
RealGM - A rumor floating around the internet supposedly of NY Post origins state that the buzz in Summer League: Las Vegas among GMs was that one of the top free-agent centers, Samuel Dalembert, verbally agreed on a $70M to $75M deal to stick with Philly.

According to the new CBA, if this is true, Dalembert (who's been a backup for a big part of his career), but is still one of those "potential" players, could be averaging about $12 Million in Yearly Salary at 10.5% Increases.

I guess Dalembert can go on the list for most overpaid players.

Another overpaid players. If he is still coming off the bench, he is not worth it. Well, these days, its hard to find a good center.

Wat do you mean STILL coming off the bench?
He started almost the whole second half of the season....

Anyway......12mil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very overpaid! I thought Ilgauskas was getting overpaid for his new contract....
I guess it shows the sixers want him to be there main guy with AI and CWebb.

Its hard to tell because Marc Jackson also want to be a starter. But given this contract extension, Dalembert should start this season.

i guess that was the only way for the 76ers to keep him, otherwise Hawks probably would've offered as much, cause the Hawks organization likes to screw other teams, like what they did to the Suns....

my gosh I guess going to the NBA is one of job to get easily overpaid without being great or having lots of experience.

Re-signing him was a good move. Giving him $12 million per year...not so good. I liked what I saw of Dalembert last year and keeping him around was in Philly's best interests, but I'm not sure anyone else would have gone that high to pry him away.

LOL!

Good call Andrew hehe.

If Dalembert doesnt put up 20ppg 13rpg 3bpg this season, this is the worst re-signing ive seen lol.
Hes got massive potential and great talent, and in that case it would of been smarter to offer him a 2-3 year deal at roughly 6.5-8mill per year, if he puts up them numbers in that time frame, then you give him 12mill over 5/6 years.

Silly sixers :P

Oh, my, fucking, dog...I love that they resigned Sammy...but, 12 mil?? Are you kidding me?? 12 million is way too much for him. He's got a lot of talent, but that money is for a superstar, not some guy with a lot of potential :miserable: :shake:
Hopefully he'll prove everybody wrong and put 26/13/3 this year

If a Center in the NBA puts up those kind of numbers, he'll be due for a Shaq-esque contract in the region of 20m per annum and more... that's how rare true productive pivots are in the game nowadays...

He showed this season and one before, it is pretty possible for him to become a 14/11/2 player which is great for this centreless league, but is it worth of paying superstar money? I don't think so. But then again, 76ers can't afford losing him. He has too much potential, plus he is needed to make Iverson happy. This team has so much talent that it isn't even funny anymore. They could be a legit 50-wins team in the East, if all of the players develop and if Weber resurrects into a servicable player. That's a lot of 'if's', I know, but there's a strong possibilty that everything works out.

C:Dalembert
PF:Weber
SF:Korver
SG:Iguodala
PG:Iverson
Jackson, Green (if they choose to resign them), McKie, Williams,...

I have a hard time believing this will come to pass...of course he'd agree to $75M...but will that offer sheet actually appear.

AND YOU ALL THOUGHT 5.5 MIL FOR JEROME JAMES WAS TOO MUCH..

haha but yes this is a overpayment but he could still develop into something special.
He is what Iverson needs. a Defender and rebounder.

He's not there yet. He might be this season under Mo Cheeks, though. Let's wait and see.

he's only worth half of that money. the problem here is that he has potential. I say sign him for that much when he reaches that potential, and that could be a long time or never. sixers should trade him before other teams realise he's not worth 75mil.
