For what it's worth Knick fans, I played as them today in ESPN 2K5 with Jerome as the starting C, he did quite well and we beat Minnesota by about 30

I completely forgot Tim Thomas. The Knicks actually have some depth this year. Look at the bench...

C Frye
PG Nate Robinson
SF Tim Thomas
SG P. Hardaway
PF Maurice Taylor
PF Malik Rose
Pf Jerome Williams
SF David Lee

Unless every game of the season is against the Kings, he won't be worth that $.

when does Penny's contract end? I'm thinking maybe the Knicks should have cut him instead of Houston if his contract is just as big and long.

He's played horribly whenever he's played. At least Houston's made shots when he's actually played. Both have been injured most of their time.

I never thought i'd say this...but i think the Knick's roster issues got worse.

this is penny's final year. He will probably be traded so someone get some cap relief. Same with Tim Thomas.
anyway this is a good move by the knicks. With the knicks money is something you have to ignore. I mean he is better than foyle by far and look what he got to RIDE THE BENCH. Plus he is a center. Who else should the knicks have signed?
He can block shots, that's what the knicks need right now and he provides it. Rebounds sweetney can eat'em and the other 3 can do the scoring. But if he plays somewhere near like 70% of what he did in the playoffs then it's a good move.

The Knicks should sign nobody, get their cap situation under control not because it's costing the owner money (i could care less), but so they can sign a free agent that can contribute.

Jerome James contract is long term, it's not like they signed him for a year.

you guys act like the knicks signed him for 10mill/ yr
its not the best of contracts but the signing did fill something the knicks been needing- a big man and size. This is not like all those previous undersized centers.

Cap situation... don't even bother, thats not going to be fixed for now. When Houston contract expires (knicks still pay him even if they released him) then we can start thinking of that.
I mean this guy is better than Travis Knight who got around 5mill a year for sitting on the bench.
