He was a projected top 20 pick so really for him to fall to the 2nd round was completely unexpected. We'll just have to wait and see how he goes in the NBA but from all reports he's got a shitload of talent.

He HAS shitload of talent. 6'6''/around 210lbs with superb quickness/speed, decent athleticism + and legit PG skills. He's leagues above Jaric. His handles are superb and so is his court vision. Plus, he has great work ethic and is obsessed with becoming a great NBA player.

I love the part where he is obsessed with becoming a great NBA Player :D .

Do you think he will take over Rafer's job at starting PG?

Not right now. But he could take over the starting job by the All-Star game. Unlike most Euros coming into the L, he already was star here. He was the best player on his team and succeded in dominating games although he was double teamed for a decent part of the game(which you don't see a lot of times with PGs). His D is probably on a NBA level. He shut down Telfair a couple of years ago (1-10 shooting), so opposing players with elite quickness aren't problem for him.

probably the reason telfair was shut down was himself. from what ppl r saying i can understand the ukic has great defense but telfair has at least a 6 inch disadvatage against him and i can probably shoot better than him from 3pt land

I do believe reports from the Treviso camp said that he was at 6'6'' (with shoes)/218. I don't buy it, but who knows? (BTW - Joey Graham has almoust the same measurements .)

No, he's a SF/PF who the Raptors drafted. The guy you're talking about is Jason Maxiell.

Translation

The Raps signed Ukic to a 3 year deal. Ukic's club KK Split will receive a buyout of $700,000. Roko was thinking about staying in Europe but in the end decided to play in the NBA.

Followup article:

http://www.tportal.hr/fset.html

Translation

Ukic says "This is a dream come true. I'm glad to be playing for a team where I will get the chance to play in my rookie season".

The contract will be for 2.5 million over 3 seasons. The key was Scott Howard who came to Croatia. Negotations took 2 hours to get done. The Raptors will pay KK Split $500,000 and Ukic will take care of the rest. The amount of money Ukic is being paid is the amount a player gets paid if drafted late in the first round.

Another Roko quote:

Translation: "Obviously Toronto believe in me. There is no real playmaker on thier roster so I'm gonna play a lot. Risk is always there, but if you're worth you will prove it."

That trade doesn't work under the cap. He would have to throw in Bosh&Graham (Y). It sucks to have a retarded GM, doesn't it ?

lol, I want a playmaker on the Raptors. I would be pleased if Ukic can rack up assists the way TJ Ford and Jamaal Tinsley impressed me in their rookie years.
