I started smoking when i was 14 also. Me and a friend who lives accross the road used to steal his dad's ciggarettes and smoke them behind the yard. At that stage we did it to try it out, and we thought we were cool.

These days i only really do it when i'm drinking... i don't know why... but when i drink i crave it.

though nowadays my situation is closer you friend's. once i got a place of my own i thought, "nice, now i can both have a drink and smoke and not have to go outside".

contrary to what some of you say, cigarettes do give you a high or at least kick in the buzz/high, most especially a certain kind of them combined with drinking & certain mind altering substances

as far as weed and beer/liquor, i think it depends on the individual. for me, it really doesn't matter though i will say cognac, whiskey, brandy is enjoyable after smoking pot

btw there much more alchohol-related deaths then the smoking variety...

there are probably some minors here so don't take it as me advocating smoking or anything else i mentioned....

I couldn't agree more. I just moved back home recently, and when I lived on my own it was the whole "Wow, no folks here..guess I'll just have a beer and smoke" tihng goin on lol. I've cut down lots since I moved back home...

I used to smoke when I was going out and having a good time, but I stopped with that a couple of months ago. However I made a small comeback and smoked like a half pack of cigaretts this weekend, also smoked some other stuff too that made me go ->

I've been smoking on and off for about a year... mostly when me and few friends get together and drink. On average, I'd say about 4-5 times a week. And yeah I agree, it does give you a kick sorta.. especially when you drink. So it's not all about looking "cool" as most people think.

i've tried it a few times. never really liked it. plus my dad is a heavy smoker, so are some of my uncles. i've seen what it can do to them, so a part of me doesn't want to go down that road as well

Some people don't really bag smokers, but I do. I see it as a sign of weakness. How does it feel knowing that you weren't strong enough to ignore someone elses pressure and gave in to smoking because you either wanted to be like them, or they told you to do it. No one starts smoking and keeps smoking because they want to, it's always because "my friends were doing it" or "someone told me to" etc.

I've only tried cigs twice and i didn't mind them but Passive Smoking and that stuff pisses me off so much, especially when i'm near my dad.

I don't see the point in smoking. Weed I could understand. You get high. Cigs do nothing. At least get high if your gonna ruin your body.

I completely agree with G.O.A.T., nothing special to smoking cigarettes. Done it a couple of times and it doesn't even taste good.
On the other hand, I live in the Netherlands so yeah I smoke weed. At least that does something and it's not too expensive either. Then again, it doesn't taste good and you get this harsh taste in your mouth and throat so you have to drink something along with it (not too much or you might trip).

, probably, I haven't see him though but I remember that some National team players put thompus during on court celebration in Athens '95. And I saw some volleyball players smoking in front of the cameras.... Sport life my ass...

Hmm, that's not always the case (It was with me, but i was in year 7). One of my mates smokes frequently. He's really not the kind of person to give in to what people tell him to do, since he's fucking massive. But he grew up with his dad smoking all the time, so he doesn't really know life any other way. He's just following the path of his dad. Plus he does it because he enjoys it. He has a "i'm going to die one day anyway" kind of attitude so he smokes at will. That's not the way i swing, i'd rather look after myself atleast a little bit, but yeah that's my point.

Also my mum's husband is a frequent smoker, and it's the same story. His father used to smoke etc.

That's not really an excuse... my mum has been smoking since she was 14, my Dad smokes, most of my friends smoked and all of my uncles smoke yet I don't and neither does my brother (anymore).

I don't deny that it's addictive, I think that's why people say they enjoy it... I mean when you literally can't stop doing something I guess sometimes you just force yourself to like it.

I used to smoke weed all the time. It was taking over my life, now I smoke weed socially, maybe once or twice a month.

I also used to smoke cigs, but I play basketball, and I was starting to feel the impact. The first practice where I felt more out of shape and tired was the end of me buying cigs, I'm sort of the same way with cigs as I am with weed, I smoke socially, once and a while.

Drinking however, is a different story

and GOAT, I think cigs are kid of like coffee. When you're younger you can't understand how people like it, its weird tasting, its definitley gross. But as you get older, the taste sort of grows on you, and cigs are definitley tasty and soothing once you get used to them.

My dad smokes cigs and weed, blows around $100-200 a paycheck on that shit. My mom quit smoking like 2 years ago. My dad's gotta light up everywhere, damn. He smokes on the way to church too. I hate smelling like smoke in church. Yesterday he even rolled a cigarette in a chinese restaurant.
