I thought he had a lot of potential when I watched him play while he was in Utah. For some reason, I always thought he was older than 28, but I think he'd be a good addition to the Suns. Looks like the Suns are adding a bit more defense. Not much, but they do look like a team that's trying to win a championship as soon as possible.

The Suns will be a better team next year, but to be honest i think theyll end up with a worse record at the end of the season.....

Just to address the Thomas/Stoudamire position arguement... its simple, they got Kurt so they have the FLEXABILITY to run Amare at C when it suits them, or Kurt at C when it suits them, depending on the team they play....

I think their goal was to have Amare setting more high post picks, having JJ and Nash spot up for 3's, have Marion slashing to the hoop, Amare rolling and Kurt keeping the opposing teams bigs out of the way and spotting up for mid-range jumpers.... The signing of Bell indicates to me they intend to keep running Marion at PF for certain periods of the game, again, when it suits them, otherwise it'd be a useless signing with jim jackson still on the team.

an older topic and a little random, but i just heard that ginobili is mad at his agent (raja bell's agent) for getting bell to become a sun.

the suns are becoming more like the spurs, or attempting to... signing kurt thomas (bigger guy up front), bell (defensive guy), trying to keep a star (johnson)... mike d'antoine even said that their number one priority this offseason was to build up to become better then the spurs... by trying to build like them.

a lot of bulls fans (well at least over @realgm) were hoping to get his guy

I don't blame them. Bell plays good defense and is a good shooter. But the Bulls may have just signed a player who will be better than Bell: Eddie Basden. Sensational defender and doesn't have a great outside shot, but is a great athlete. Great body control, good handles, but the best part of his game is his defense. I'd take Basden and a cheap contract over Finley and a significant contract.

Hunter is a FA so I think the Suns will continue to start their uptempo, run-and-gun lineup, but with both JJ's in the starting lineup. Nash-JJ-JJ-Marion-Amare, with KT and Bell off the bench. Hopefully Barbosa will mature and get more playing time. Finley over Jackson in the starting lineup if he signs.

Kurt to defend the opposing teams best inside player... then it also says his outside shooting will help, which suggests Thomas moves to PF on offense and Amare back to C.

Now I have the least possible respect for CBS Sportsline and their ignorant writers, but Thomas' excellent 18' jump shot will definitely help the Suns. He and Marbury pick and poped to death and he is best spotting up, especially around the shoulder. He and Nash can pick and roll in Phoenix, with his deadly jumper as a possibility or a weakside cutter (Marion) and a jump shooter. Or he could spot up and create space for Amare in the post. He gives another offensive weapon who doesn't just go 1-on-1 in the half court.

If anyone on the Mavericks' roster the past few years is at least a decent defender, it's Finley.

Until Josh Howard came along and showcased his excellent defense .
