Does anybody know when the former Rookie Of The Month is going to come back if he really is? He has missed two complete seasons already. I know he has had a crash with his bike, but will he come back for 2005-06?
Tue Jun 28, 2005 10:06 pm
Those options are too extreme for me- I think he'll be a solid PG in the league. Probably not great, but also I don't believe that "he has no future"
Tue Jun 28, 2005 10:23 pm
And where will he be on Bulls' roster? It's already so full of growing talent...
He'll not hv great playing minutes...:S
Wed Jun 29, 2005 12:23 am
Then the Bulls can release him etc. I opened this topic for asking what you think will happen.
Wed Jun 29, 2005 12:27 am
i think the thing with these polls is, they are always too extreme. like this one, you either think he will be great or he wont come back. wtf is the option that he will play again but never get back into a starting role
Wed Jun 29, 2005 12:29 am
If you think he won't do neither, the third option is always welcome. And this topic is not about the poll, it's about what you think.

You don't have to post after every post someone makes.
I hope Williams can get back to the court & make a decent contribution.

I used to like to watch Jay Williams when he was with the Bulls. He wasnt as good as advertised though. from the 30 or so bulls games I get in Michigan i saw him not being able to run Bill Cartwrights Triangle offense, The team put him on the IL early in the season supposedly because he hurt somthing but he really couldnt grasp the pace and act of running an NBA offense. I hope he can play though.

I think Toronto has shown some interest in Jay if he is available.
Jay's Blog wrote:Next year, I will be playing. Count on it. It pumped me up for the Toronto Raptors to call and see how I am. I received some other calls from some other teams. It means a lot to me. I think teams are realizing that my comeback is not just talk.

If he posts, it's because he oviously cares. But maybe he doesn't think Williams will do great or bad, maybe he'll be a decent player or something. That's what he was saying
Wed Jun 29, 2005 1:11 pm
He will come back because there was an article saying that he spends one hour of basketball, one hour of weight lifting and one hour of something else ( cant remember) everyday. I think he may be back next season, but if not then most likely 2006 season.

Good dedication.. I guess he can afford it. The life of a pro sportsperson... Getting paid with a fat payslip and not doing much after that. It sounds great!
Wed Jun 29, 2005 9:21 pm
As far as I know when the Bulls bought out his contract both sides agreed that if he could ever get back to the point where he could play professionally again, a return to Chicago would be discussed though I believe he can sign with any team he desires. As I don't think it would break the bank for the Bulls to bring him back on board, I wouldn't mind if they were to give him a one year deal. I'm skeptical as to whether his career would have the same future it once did, but if he's healthy I think he could be a solid backup.

i want him to come the league,i like him!
Thu Jun 30, 2005 8:38 am
lets see the guy play in summer league competition first... if 'healthy', i'll take him over pargo. this prick sure owes a lot to the bulls

pargo almost won you guys a playoff series, don't be so quick to disregard him...
Thu Jun 30, 2005 10:00 am
are you fucking serious?
turn off the imaginary tv
Thu Jun 30, 2005 12:52 pm
Pargo's great when he's on target. He can come in and hit a couple of threes to boost a lead or cut into a deficit. But when the shots aren't dropping, he isn't helping one bit.
Fri Jul 01, 2005 8:51 am
He's very trigger-happy...he could shoot his mom to the hoop
Fri Jul 01, 2005 8:57 am
Has there been any major reports that he'll come back, or is it just speculation?
Fri Jul 01, 2005 9:38 am
mostly just by his agent and his blog comments
Fri Jul 01, 2005 6:48 pm
Can he even walk yet?
Fri Jul 01, 2005 9:08 pm
He said he's been pracitsing since the strat of last season... there was one blog entry which was dedicated to him starting to walk again or something if I recall correctly.

It's impossible for us to know whether his body will hold up for the length of a season, or even if he's been able to regain enough athleticism to even get a chance to prove himself.
However, the thing that impresses me is his hunger to get back. A lot of guys would have said "well, my body is a wreck, but I've still got a truckload of cash from my contract, so I can retire to booze and hookers". To his credit, Jay has worked his butt off to get back as far as he has, and seems really determined to prove he can still play. Maybe there's a bit of remourse about his own stupidity mixed in there too, but heck, having a chip on your shoulder (even if the anger is self directed) is often the best motivator.
There's obviously question marks over his body, but attitude and desire wise, this could work out to be something that works for him. Even if he can't be the athlete he once was, a guy that works his guts out night in night out sounds like the kind of player who'd appeal to Scott Skiles coaching philosophy, and so I think there's a good chance he'll at the least be given a fair crack at it.
To jump off the fence, I'd say he'll be worth more than the minimum contract he'll sign in his first year back, being a solid rotation player, and possibly a starter in the future once he's actually had a full season of real competition behind him. He'll never be a star, but given his performance before his accident, I think that even had he not been injured you'd have no guarantee he'd be one either.

good post, shakes. a lot of williams college success was due to him dominating lesser athletic players. he was somewhat exposed when he realized that nba players are just as athletic as he is.
and since he lost nerve damage and coming off multiple acl injuries, i'm not sure what kind of game he will have since his game was mostly based on his athleticism
