Speaking about dumb GMs ...

He could have Green (much more chances to succed than Bynum), Taft (a lottery type potential, perhaps Phil could straighten his ass up) and Ukic (long PG. Isn't this what Jackson likes?). Three lottery type talents. Just say all together: OMFG, this guy is so going to get flamed.

Umm why would he pick Ukic (a late first round prospect at best)

Taft by the way he played last season is no way a lottery pick and deservedly got picked in the second round.

Green wouldn't get much of a oppurtunity at LA with Kobe and Butler there.

Bynum wasn't a great pick but they did need a centre...

He had two early 2nd round picks. They were both available when the Lakers picked.

Well.. I kinda redeemed himself in getting Turiaf, I dunno much about him, but quite a few people on this forum are quite high on him. Same with some of the ESPN analysts.

i think getting bynum belongs to Phil 3-year plan. we might get the future center of our team.....

i was praying that Lakers will get Taft with our 2 2nd round pick but i think Turiaf is a safe pick to play for our frontcourt....

so basically im okey with the 2 picks but drafting who? wafer? who the hell this guy.... there are far better player maybe Ukic as many said or even draft taft as a potential trade bait....

Also why not kupcake call denver as ask about Jack.....

I dont know... i seriously think Phil was making the decisions... Why did the lakers pass on Ukic in the 2nd round? Because the guy's nba comparison is Jason Williams(Memphis).

And that's bad? William's head is fucked up, not his talent.

Bynum, this guy only got on the NBA radar only recently and Green has been hyped up for quite a while. When the opportunity presented itself with both guys still on the board, I wonder what Kupchak was thinking. I mean, both Jax and Kupchak loved Bynum and Green but Green is definitely the much more skilled player. And if they had taken Green, there's many more big men talented enough to be taken in the second round. If Jax wants Butler to play the point, there's nothing holding LA from taking Green. He's not as much as a project as Bynum... why didn't he make the move?

And this Wafer guy.. as the X said, 'Will he even make the team?'

I can swallow the Bynum pick, I don't like it but what can you do... Turiaf was a nice pick, Von Wafer is an absolute disgrace of a pick. He is listed as an undersized outside shooting guard who doesn't play defence. Why didn't they just fucking keep Kareem Rush. Idiots.

I'm not sure about Bynum, he's only 17.

That being said, he's a big guy, perhaps he could be the dominating force LA needs. (Besides Kobe, although I don't see him dominating anything anytime soon, someone teach him how to utilize his size. Perhaps Shaq should retire and take up an assistant coach's job with LA a la Patrick Ewing in Orlando. )

Yes, I was just joking.

Ukic plays like Williams. Williams doesnt fit in the triangle offense. Therefore Ukic doesnt fit in the triangle offense.

Just wait and see what Von Wafer can do, he was a HS All-American in LeBron's year (not the worst HS senior class).
I like this thread though and the Babcock one as well. Everybody's always talking shit about the Knicks but at least we didn't have a fucked up draft like you guys did.

It's what he can't do that worries me the most. Little things, like defence and controlling his own violent outrages.

He chose him only because of his age, in order to be associated with the youngest player ever drafted. He just wants to make headlines. Maybe Phil Jackson has some special project in his mind with him. But actually he shouldn't be drafted earlier than the 20th pick.

Phil and Kupchak just want to emphasise that they arent expecting to be contenders any time soon. They don't have to play the game this far as to pick a project player whos not even assured of a big future.

I don't get why anyone really expected the Lakers to get Gerald Green when they already have one of the best perimeter players in the league, Kobe.

I like the Bynum pick, I am more for picking a big man out of high school than any other position and he looks like he had some great upside in the future but not right away. He's 7'0 and 285 at age 17. He seems to move well around the basket so if you develop this guy he could be a monster in the future and possibly get taller at that young age. Just reboud and block shots if nothing else. He's a project they were willing to try out again and as much as I hate what the Lakers have become over the last few years, I kinda like the Bynum pick. Time will tell though.
