Ladies & gentlemen, I welcome you once again to the Jackal Show. I spent quite some time trying to figure out how I would celebrate my 5000th post, alas all I could come up with was this shitty thread. Oh well, guess you all will have to do with this, no? I tried to make it as interesting as the recent shout-out threads have become, but I’m not a very creative person. Besides, most of the parties I throw suck due to the fact I’m a terrible host. So I don’t expect you folks to come to my house, to have my beer or bring any cake. (As if you cheap bastards would, you penniless cunts.)
Anyways, let’s get back to topic. I’m here making this thread so that I can share the joy I feel at the moment whilst making this 5000th post. I can’t really translate them into words but I can say it’s been a love hate relationship with the NLSC & its members. Some times it was more love than hate and at times it was more hate than love. Gladly, I can say most of my hate period seems to be behind me. Here’s hoping I can keep it that way.
The NLSC, in my opinion, has progressed not in little baby steps but in giant leaps. I suppose I should credit a lot of it to the staff of the forum, but I won’t. I’ll credit the people who deserve to be credited. You guys. The regulars, the bastards & ofcourse the spammers.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that the staff has nothing to do with it, they do. Perhaps not everyone, but they do. I think we have one of the best webmasters a poster could ask for. At a given time I disliked him from the pit of my stomach (that’s where I dislike people from) but once that misunderstanding was cleared up, I didn’t dislike him as much anymore. Not to say that I liked him, I was afraid of him. Hell, he’s the one with the power to ban me from one hell of a site. I won’t say community given dotorg is also part of the community. So he could ban me from one hell of a site.
I think introducing the Hardwood Classics section was one of the best ideas the NLSC has had in recent times. That section speaks louder than any poster, whether he’s a n00b or a veteran, can ever say about how the NLSC is. That section represents the NLSC in ways beyond imagination. I think it’s a must that all n00bz have a look at that section before they commence their posting career at the NLSC. This way you have some knowledge on previous events and this in turn makes the transition from a n00b to a regular much smoother. You’ll be able to judge a person’s character when you interact with them on the forum. Now I can assess my own character, but you’ll probably get a biased opinion. (Duh.) So when you read a lot of those famous (or should I say infamous) posts, you’ll come across a lot of posts that describe another posters posting abilities. Ofcourse you should also keep enough room to make judgments for yourself.
Oops, I started lecturing about becoming a good poster and forgot to get to the point. Well the point I would like to make is that although the NLSC has progressed in terms of mods that have been installed (not moderators, mods as in the quick reply et al) & ofcourse the recent design (which I might add still looks spectacular to me, great job & a big thank you to both Andrew & Andreas), the quality of posters has digressed. Ofcourse, this is my opinion and a lot of you may beg to differ, but that’s alright with me. I feel that the average poster now doesn’t stand still to think about what it is they are posting. A lot of them try really hard to be funny, many of them say things and tend to think afterwards & a certain philipino poster…well I don’t know what that guy is on.
Given I was in a time when Matthew, Stevan, Nick, Jowe, Clinton (hmm, is it a coincidence these are all Australians) and others such as Tales (pre flippo phase) & Ruben (when he was still a bit funny) posted, I’m sad to see the state of the NLSC posting wise. The reason I’ve stuck around the NLSC is because I want to see it grow. I would like to have the satisfaction of knowing the NLSC got better than how it was when I had just arrived. Only then will I be satisfied to leave the NLSC. Unless another big issue arises and I feel I’ve had it & cannot continue to be a part of the site. Although I doubt this last one will happen given I’ve carved a nice little niche for myself in the NLSC (alteast I like to think so) and I don’t foresee any problems with anyone of the staff or of the regular posters.
What I’m trying to say is that I’m still going to be around for awhile. Unless every poster turns around and becomes a Fgrep15 type poster. This way the NLSC would be much better off than when I arrived & I’ll finally have no reason or regrets for leaving the NLSC. But, as I said, I don’t see that happening anytime soon so you bitches are stuck with me. Hah!
Moving on, I’d like to take this moment and do something I rarely do and probably should do more often, I’d like to apologize for my behavior at times. I’ve been quite fussy & annoying on various occasions and I’m really, really happy you guys chose to look past that and were willing to give me a second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth & seventh chance to redeem myself. A lot of people think I’m an arrogant, self centered prick & to a certain extent I think they are right. Although I might throw a fit & deny it, deep down I know they’re words are true. Which is probably why I tend to deny it even more. As I said, I’m grateful you folks put up with me. Hehe, now that I’m writing this, another thought just popped into my head, perhaps you people aren’t really putting up with me, you’re just visiting your favorite site. There I go again, being self centered and thinking you people actually give a flying fuck.
But in all seriousness, there is a select few whom I know I can talk to about anything. A lot of people think I’m a person who only flames people and is only out to insult others, but a select few know I’m a bit more than that. I’m also a whiner & a person who says random bullshit on MSN.
Because of the NLSC I’ve also learned how to be more tolerant. Believe it or not, I’ve actually lost my temper a lot less often than I used to. Hell, I was only suspended once this year & went to the police-station on one occasion only, and even then I think I was right.
I get to vent a lot of my frustrations on this site & that’s a big thing for me. I think getting that punching bag that’s in my basement has also relieved some of the tension regular life brings. So now instead of venting all of it on the NLSC, I just punch the bag.
Now, as we all know, I’m not all sugar, so let’s move on to the darker side of things, my favorite side. There have been many occasions where I’ve felt really bad. Sometimes I feel a bit under-appreciated on the forums but that could be due to two reasons, I overestimate myself (which I think is quite likely) or I’m just feeling glum that day and I shift my negative vibes finding faults on the forum. I just don’t want people to forget that I only wish the best for the NLSC & its posters. If I have to be the bad guy to insult someone to make the NLSC better, I will. If I have to fight a person of the staff to make things better for the posters, I will. At times I’ve regretted the fact I can’t patch, because this seems the most logical way to become a team-member of the NLSC, at times I’ve felt quite bad that every Tom, Dick & Harry has an NLSC badge…but then I get over it and realize it’s not that big of a deal. Hell, every Tom, Dick and Harry has one. So what if I don’t? I’ll continue to make my contribution regardless of the fact that I do, or do not have some badge. I’ll continue to do what I do for everyone that visits this forum. I don’t know exactly what it is I do, but sticking around only seems to be quite a thing these days. I know I’ll stick around for people that say things like this:
Note: To anyone who is preparing to say "How come nobody flamed Jackal or Jae when they made celebration threads, while others get flamed, why the double standard?", I say this to you: These people mean something to the community.
It was great hearing something like that from one of the best posters the NLSC has had. I wish he’d return from his god-damn vacation and spend a bit more time with us.
Anyways, given I’ve rambled on enough, I might as well move on to the shoutouts & start serving the beer.

- Andrew: I’d like to thank you for obvious reasons, without you there wouldn’t be much of an NLSC to visit. I thank you for your daily contributions to this forum & site. I also thank you tons for managing this site & putting up with the tons of requests, fusses and other dramatic bullshit. It’s amazing how much patience you have & I hope you keep on doing what you do for quite some time now. I’ll be a very sad poster if you retire as webmaster.
- Jae: Dude, you are one of the best people I have met on this forum. I think we’d have a blast if we ever got together in real life given we seem to get a kick out of a lot of the same things. I’d like to take this moment, in front of everybody to say a genuine thanks, besides Andrew, there isn’t a single other person that does as much for the NLSC as much as you do. I know we tend to bitch & whine about how it is on the NLSC on MSN, but I think we should face it, we love this site. We can mope & whine, but we love it. It’s the only reason you put up with it, other than sheer boredom that is. I know a lot of people think I’m riding your cock with this message but if thanking you is doing that, than so be it. Your contribution to the NLSC has no limits. You put up with shit other members wouldn’t put up with. You take whatever is said to you, process it & try to better yourself with it. You might not say it or consciously realize it, but I’ve realized it. You’ve improved as a poster & I think you’re one of the best things to happen to the NLSC. At this given time I feel I can fairly surely say this much, you & Yohance are the best mods the NLSC has ever had.
- Matthew: Although you’ve taken an oath to not post anymore, I still look forward to the day you resume your postings. It’s been a pleasure having you as an internet friend. You, like Jae, are a person whose contributions to the NLSC seem to have gone unnoticed. Not here, I see it. You & countless others have shaped me. I am what I am today, due to you guys. You’ve always had my back, whether it was right or wrong, although you knew it was wrong, you stood by me. You helped me & you spoke to me when I had to be spoken to. I can’t thank you enough for always having my back.
- Jowe: You’re also one of the select few I don’t mind talking to on MSN. I know I can ramble on about anything to you, I wish you’d post a bit more often given you seem to be slacking lately. You’re a very laid back guy & you’re not too quick to judge. (Well, you didn’t do that to me.) So yeah, I’m thankful to also backing me in some threads & sharing the hatred I have for some of the posters that have visited the NLSC.
- Cameron: I might not have many words for you but you know how grateful I am mate, you’ve always also had my back & you are a genuinely nice person. You take my personality as it is & don’t pass judgement, thanks a bunch.
- Cyanide: I think you are one of the best new posters the NLSC has, I’d just like to thank you in general.
I’ll go on to thank the vets that have had a hand in shaping the way that I am today: I would’ve written about you but there’s nothing I can add besides what I’ve written in the 3000 Posts thread that’s in the Hardwood Classics, so I’ll just name you and hope a lot of you resume posting if time permits you to do so.
