It's a good article but yet another example of someone not knowing what they're talking about...

Bogut's Utes lost a Sweet 16 game by 10 to Kentucky, which didn't exactly have a front line of Walton, Olajuwon and Ewing. Bogut had 20 points and 11 rebounds. But, come on – if he were a future perennial NBA All-Star, he would have dominated Kentucky, then Michigan State, then made eventual champion North Carolina sweat in the Final Four.

Right... so he'd have to take a team that can only described as average on his own to the final four, while also putting up with the opposing team being able to focus their entire defense on Bogut because he's the only decent player they actually had. Add to the fact that against Kentucky they had three 7 footers to throw at him, no NBA team can do this... no NBA team WILL do this. Also his example of Scola leading Argentina to the Olympics while Bogut only averaged 14/8 is null and void, Scola is much older + more experienced.

As a freshman last season, Williams was completely content to come off the bench.

Right, so for Marvin Williams to be a good player he has to whinge and complain about playing time on the 2nd best college team in the USA in his freshman year.

He also says Ginobili would be picked ahead of Elton Brand, Lamar Odom, Baron Davis etc but that's another matter.

I'm just ready to see this Bogut kid play in the NBA. So many people are taking up for him and some people are dissin' him. I've never really seen him play at college before because I never really paid attention to Utah. If he ends up going to a sorry team in the NBA, you would never know how good he could really be because since they judging him by the impact he made on an average team, if he put up good numbers on say the Hawks then they may think the same way. Maybe if the Bucks choose him, it could be a different story, it all depends on if they can make a playoff push with him leading the way if Redd doesn't come back.

I think he may turn out to be a pretty good player, but I can judge right now since I really haven't seen him play.

Even if he does end up a "bust" (which is always possible I guess) it's going to bother me that journalists have so many completely uninformed opinions on people based on either their skin colour or just trying to be funny.

Anyways, I too am intruiged as to how Bogut will play. Not many (legit) 7 footers have gone #1 in recent times. They're rare, I sure hope he plays like a 1st pick, not a la Kwame & Kandiman.

He's got valid points, but it's not news. Everyone considers this draft very even, and you're not seeing any big names being offered for higher picks. I think it's very possible that in a few years Green or Warrick could end up being better than Williams or Bogut...but what are the odds? 10%? 5%? How many Tracy McGrady's are there for every Desagana Diop?

And if he defines a good draft pick by making the All-Star team, he's clearly a loon. By that definition Tony Parker and Joe Johnson aren't good picks, also leaving out Kirk Hinrich, Drew Gooden, Odom, Richardson, Michael Redd, Steve Francis, need we go on? The All-Star game is nothing but a giant, 2-day commercial for the NBA.

I've never really liked Skip Bayless, he seems a little bit like Steven Ass Smith to me. Stating the obvious but trying to fake everyone into believing he has a ton of basketball knowledge. I think that if the Bucks think that Michael Redd is staying/will stay if they draft Bogut, they'll draft him. If they think Redd is splitting, then I think they'll go with Gerald Green and hope for a new Tmac or something close. I think Bogut will end up being a pretty good player but not necessarily an all-star, and Green will end up being very good and an allstar depending if he can end up on a decent team (at least not the Hawks).
