Knicks draft

I just read on the Knicks website that the Knicks are interested in Danny Granger (6-8 SF, New Mexico) for their 8 th pick. I would like them to go after Channing Frye (6-11 PF/C, Arizona) or Andrew Bynum (7-0 C, St. Josephs H.S., NJ). The Knicks need a big man more than any other. And they could go after Francisco Garcia (6-7 SG-SF, Louisville) for their 30 th pick. What do u guys think?

Garcia still being there at 30? Lay off the rocks man. We're most likely takin Garcia at 17 if he's available.

Plus, you're thinking about taking Bynum at 8? That's a waste of a pick.

You're going to pick Frye, no doubt about it. Especially after that KT for Q trade.

Frye is a gamble so high, and Bynum is 2-3 years away from being a conributor... The Knicks need results, FAST...

This draft is so deep, the Knicks can still get a very good player with the 30th pick, like Blatche (who's 7"0 too).

I didn't say that they couldn't get a good player, but Garcia just won't be there, that's unrealistic. Just like if the Lakers expect Gerald Green to be there at 10 thats unrealistic.

If they draft another swingman, then someone will sodomize Isiah Thomas. Frye isn't worth of #8. If I were Knicks, I would hope than Granger falls and that Bynum doesn't get picked in the lottery - he said that he would go to UConn if he gets picked later. That means that Knicks (if they picked him with #17) would get a top 3 material in a couple of years. I know Knicks don't like rebuilding, but it would be worth waiting for this guy.

He's a little bigger than Chris Bosh, and his game is similar... but his skills far worse... You get the picture... unless he beefs up, he'll be a PF in the league...

Well, did you mean Knicks selecting Bynum at 30? Or did you actually think the Knicks had the 17th pick?

I'm just curious to where you are expecting Bynum to go.

I really thought that Knicks had two #1. (And I expect Bynum to go in the teens. If he's really being measured at 7'1'' with enormous wingspan and a 37 inch vertical in the workouts, he could go even higher. His best case scenarios are Knicks at #8 or Lakers at #10.) I smell Diop in this guy.

Unless the Knicks are a man away from being title contenders, they should go after the best talent available period. At 8, that isn't Frye...by a long shot.

If teams actually followed the draft-by-position theory (the good ones do not) the Bulls would have drafted either Childress or Deng with the #3 pick, letting Ben Gordon, Shaun Livingston, and Andre Iguodala all slip by because they were guards.

Drafting by position ends up with teams like Toronto getting Raphal Araujo and missing out on guys like Iguodala, Telfair, Al Jefferson, Josh Smith, JR Smith. All these guys were there for Toronto, instead they got a slower version of Big Country.

I think it would be very hard for New YOrk to go after Blatche especially since the Grizzlies been eyeing him at the 19th pick.

I know, it was more of a general comment rather than a direct reply to you, even though I quoted your message.

I think this year's draft is one of the most interesting ones in a long time. There are just so much possibilities, rumours and good players that we can talk about every scenario, but we'll just have to wait until the draft to see how it really goes down.

Outlook: If he's still available at No. 8 could be headed to New York.

Why Knicks would draft him: A physical 6-10 forward. Long and athletic.

Monta Ellis, Lanier High (Miss.)
Height: 6-3
Position: Guard
Why Knicks would draft him: A potential star, flashy with high upside.
Why Knicks won't draft him: Plenty of risk drafting a high school player, especially one under 6-7. Even if he pans out, will need a few years to learn the pro game.
Outlook: Unless the Knicks can move up and select Illinois point guard Deron Williams, Isiah Thomas could pull the first stunner of the draft.

the Hornets wouldn't do that... 7th and 16th they might accept, but 8th and 30th is a long shot, unless teh Knicks add someone to the deal... but who? maybe they could ship out JC for magloire and throw the 30th pick too...
