Chris Bosh

I am a big Chris Bosh fan as you can tell by my name, but I feel that if the Raptors dont get the right guys in place and build around Bosh that he will just want to be traded as well. So this up comming draft is very important for the Toronto Raptors Organizeation

i'm sure the raptors will draft a good player at the 7th, so i'm more excited to see who they draft at 16th

I wouldn't want to draft Mendez, he's a tweener and he doesn't have the range or the speed of a small foward and his size isn't good for a power foward. Chances are our second rounders won't do much anyway, but luck has been on our side for the past couple of years (Matt Bonner and Sow).

The guys at 16 are about just as good as the guys at 7.

They can take Granger for 7 and Joey Graham at 16 easily.

They're both SFs... I don't think it would be wise to spend the two picks to draft guys that play the same position... and none of them is a SG/SF or a SF/PF combo... I think they should try to adress PG and SF with those picks...

I dont believe in drafting for postion. If the best player there is a SF then take him. I dont care if they have 2 good SF. Take him anyway. You can use him in a deal or trade one of your others in deal.

Agreed. After witnessing last draft when we drafted based on our needs, I think it's safe to say most Raptor fans should think that way

So if you're a playoff hopeful and only need a PG to complete a fine starting five, you should draft an SF, even though you already have a star at that position, just because the guy is the best player available...

You weigh the pros and cons, set you rgoals, and decide depending on your decision...

k say your the Phoenix Suns and you have another teams pick (8th Overall) let's say.
Now You know who your best guys are and what you need. Let's say that you need a center but the draft's best center is expected to go number three overall. The draft comes along and you get to your pick. The best player in the draft is a PG. Now you already got steve Nash but this PG has got talent and is one year away from beeing NBA ready. Do you draft him or take a SG who is 2 years away from Beeing NBA ready and wouldnt get you much in a trade. Or do you take any other player out there and gamble. Your safest bet is to take the PG. Now you got another good point guard you can send him to europe if you choose so. OR you can package him in deal for center. Most likely the team getting rid of the center is going to want prospects. So basicly in my mind you cant go wrong taking the best guy aviable. Hey if he turns out to be nothing, your not at fault because everyone thought he was the best guy to take at the 8th seed.

You won't understand how us Raptor fans feel until your team drafts a useless brazilian big guy that picks up 2 fouls in less than 2 minutes. I think that draft has scarred us for life. It was probably even worse than the time when we drafted Michael Bradley.... I swear we always draft the big useless white guys...

This is the strongest 2nd round in recent history looking at the names that are projected to go there so I wouldn't be so sure that the 2nd rounder will do nothing.

Except the times we drafted Tracy McGrady, Antawn Jamison/Vince Carter, Marcus Camby, Damon Stoudemire, Chris Bosh and Jonothan Bender. WHat a group of useless whities they were.

I agree that we have had some bad picks, like Radejovic, Bradley and Jeffires, but the jury is still out on Araujo. You can't tell anything from one season of shortenend minutes.

You have to remember though, every team has had bad drafts. Thats why theres a draft. If you knew who was going to be a star and who wasn't, there wouldn't be a draft, you'd just give the best player to the worst team.

The draft is a gamble, and there are too many factors to determining a players fate in the league. When the Bulls drafted Jay Williams, was that a mistake? There is no crystal ball to look into to see where a player will be in 5 years, so you just do your homework and theorize best as you can.

Who exactly should Toronto be envious of from a drafting talent aspect? San Antonio simply deals away their picks or takes gambles on lesser players in the 2nd round. Detroit had one good draft, when they stole Tayshaun at 23. They got lucky with the Milicic pick, but tell me it wasn't a huge mistake not taking Carmelo, Bosh or Wade. Milicic may be a capable starter in the future, but just because they stole a pick off Vancouver/Memphis doesn't mean they should be immune from criticism.

Toronto has never had a #1 pick. Neither have Boston, Denver, Indiana, Miami, Minnesota, Phoenix, Seattle or Utah in the 37 years since expansion began. Face it, the league is unbalanced. the only team from that group to have won a championship is Boston, yet those teams were never bad enough to get a #1. Houston on the other hand, a team with two championships, has had 4 #1 overalls. Then again, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Orlando and Portland have all had 3 in that time, and have a total of 2 championships combined in those 37 years.

There is a lot of luck in drafting. Just accept that some picks don't work out, some do, and the majority of superstars aren't still playing for the team that drafted them.

That reminds me, they were lucky enough to win the lottery in 1996 but were unlucky to have fallen victim to the stipulation that expansion teams could not own the first overall pick in their first three years of existence, a rule that came into effect after 1993 but has since been eliminated.

The Spurs were smart with Udrih. He was tearing up workouts and pre-draft camps but for some reason no one picked him come draft day.

Toronto isn't a team that is just 1 position away from championship contenders, they need to draft the best talent. These guys aren't going to be at the top of their game for 3-4 years, who knows what Toronto's needs will be then?

Regardless, nowadays for most teams on offense SF = SG, the positions are the two most interchangeable in the game. Having two great draft picks being swingmen isn't a bad thing, unless Toronto decides it's OK to let someone like McGrady go again because they "have" VC =/
