Does Duncan deserve the FINALS MVP?

i think Ginobili deserved it more, what do you guys think?

its duncan's team. just the way things go. Ginobili was his "pippen" though in a sense the 2nd guy who steped up from time to time

Ginobili definitely deserved it more. IMO.
Duncan shot shit FT and cost his team several games coz of it.
And he shot really bad percentage in some games, Game 7 10-27.....

I hate comparing players like Pippen and Jordan to nowadayz players but...
in this playoffs Pippen (Ginobili) outplayed Jordan(Duncan). IMO.

without duncan ginobili wouldn't have the same numbers if you want to put it that way.

You could say the same thing about Duncan....
And its not like Duncan set up Ginobili for shots, Ginobili was the one doing that and getting his own shots aswell.
Ginobili played a better inside game than Duncan did.

And all this is coming from me, who is the official ginobili hater!

well, it seems to me that duncan got the MVP for his reputation...

they would of focused on ginobili more if duncan was not there. Duncan gets the same attention either way.
Duncan still average over 20ppg and over 10rpg for the series

So if Pippen had played better than MJ in one of the Bulls' Finals victories, wouldn't MJ still get the MVP? That's what happened here... And no way would Manu score this much had TD not be there to command so much attention. Well deserved MVP, especially considering that great players lift their performance in the end of crucial games, and that's what Tim did in the 4th quarter, spearheading the Spurs' charge to voctory. R-E-S-P-E-C-T!!!

That's a tough call...do you give him the MVP because he performed in Game 7? Or do you not give it to him because he disappeared for 3 games against players he should be totally dominating?

IMHO this series should have been over at game 5 ... this guy is supposed to be a Hall of Famer being guarded by a guy who wasn't even drafted and is 3 inches shorter.

I'd give it to Manu. He was predicted by experts to be totally shut down by Prince, and in every game that he played well, either with points or with assists, the Spurs won. And many writers believe Manu was playing games 3-6 seriously hurt from the Prince collision, it was the same injury that sidelined Shaq for months.

But then again i'm a huge Euro-ball fan so i'm totally biased.

What? Dominating the best inside defensive duo of the League? Foe seven games??? Not even Shaq in his prime could do that...

Shaq obliterated Wallace & Wallace in last year's Finals. He shot what, 70% or higher?

Why do you think everyone was complaining about not getting the ball to Shaq? Because he was scoring on those two virtually every time he touched the ball...which was less (per minute) than Derek Fisher. Seems like there was this guard just jacking up shots instead of passing into the post. I don't recall who tho.

When i said in this playoffs...i meant the whole thing from the beginning of the playoffs.
From when they played denver i think it was.
So what im sayin to make it more clear for u, is that Ginobili played better than Duncan over the whole NBA playoffs from the first matchup.
Thats my opinion.

And TD is not, and never will be a "dominator"... He just plays his game, and eventually comes out the victor on more than half the occasions... that's a great player right there...

Horry. Horry won the series. Seriously. Think about it. Would they have won without Horry's shot?

In all seriousness, Ginobili had a great game 1 and game 2. Sure in the losing games he wasn't too good, but doesn't that make him more valuable in the finals? In the games he did well, the Spurs did well, in the other games, Spurs lost.

No. No way. If he didn't save G5, Spurs would have a mental breakdown.

There are plenty of great players that just play their game, almost 1 in every team.
But its the supporting cast of S.W.M.V.P (Shouldve Won MVP) Ginobili, Parker, Bowen and Horry. You could also almost consider Nazr, Udrih.
Not many teams have 3 star players and one of the best defensive players in the NBA.

EDIT: Oh yeah i didnt even mention Barry who is a gun 3 point and another awesome bencher.

actually i dont think there should be an MVP for this series....no player was consistent for 7 games. Duncan was a liability in the 4th in Game 5 & 6 and he shot 35% in games 3 & 4, Ginobili didnt do anything in Games 3 & 4 and Billups didnt do anything in Game 7. So really there is no worthy MVP but since there must be one statistically it should be Duncan.

Well, Duncan has been given that trophy just because to let him join the club of three time Finals MVPs, such as Jordan, Magic and Shaq. In fact, Ginobili's play was more important than Duncan's during The Finals, and without Horry (especially Game 5) they would have ended up somewhere else.

The Spurs have a better 5 players on the bench than the New Orleans and Atlanta starting 5s.

that is true. take a look last year, spurs weren't able to recover from the fisher shot. had spurs lost game 5, this would be a Pistons 4-2 win. but still, horry won't have the chance to even take that shot if it wasn't for duncan and ginobili.
