Photoshop Section: Suggestions

Postby Andrew on Tue Jun 21, 2005 4:39 pm

It's been suggested we add a Photoshop section for the benefit of patchmakers, people who want signatures or other photoshopped images for a Dynasty etc as well as a place to exchange photoshop tips and show off good/funny photoshopped images.

If there's significant interest, I'd be willing to give it a try. If not, maybe another time down the road. I'd also appreciate any suggestions as to how the section might work as far as stickied threads are concerned, specifically whether they would be used the same way as the current signature request thread.

I don't really see the whole point of a total new forum, I thought the request a signature thing was just fine. But whatever, if folks want it, more power to them.

I'm all for it. It's amazing how many skilled patchers we have that don't post anything graphics wise. It's kinda like having a sticky in 05 announcemants that says "Official Cyberface Thread"(except it'd be longer probably).

But we can see how it goes anyway. If it just remains dead, then I guess we can delete it.

I think it's a good idea considering there have been so many PS experts appearing in the General Talk. And I concur with Ruff, if it just remains dead, then I guess we can delete it. (Y)

I also like the idea, it may give other people the chance to really improve their PS skills like me who basically don't know how to use PS affectively

Another note, PS sections can "stimulate" promising patchers if you know what I mean.

Seems to be an overwhelming "Yes" vote so far, unless there's a dramatic shift I'd say we better start considering whereabouts in the forum to place a Photoshop section.

Plus look at the Request A Sig thread, thats basically 99% Photoshop Related and look at that...it is the most posts in a thread isnt it?

I think it should go just under General Talk. Anywhere else and people will probably think it's NBA Live graphics related.

My main beef about having that thread is that it's just supposed to be 'Request a Signature' thread, but because there's no graphics section, we have just started using it as a Photoshop thread, and requests go unoticed.

Well then, seems having a Photoshop section would be an appropriate solution. My next question is of course, would you still rather a central sticky thread for signature requests, or simply have new posts? The only problem with posting them a la patch requests is that they could easily get lost in the shuffle, and I don't want to create two new sections (one just for Photoshop, one for signature requests).

One request thread in the Photoshop section would do it. That way not only do, as you said, requests not get lost in the shuffle, but they also don't prevent people from finding useful stuff.

I'm with Colin, a stickied thread would do fine. (Perhaps just move the one we have at the moment to the seperate forum.)

I'd like it in General Talk too.

Yeah, but I mean it's worked so far? Why remove it now because one random person said he'd start spamming? In all seriousness, I think the name tag thing should be implemented not going by post count but the amount of time you've been a part of the forums. Like a year or 1.5 years, whatever. Not post count.

On the other hand, I see no reason to hide the post count. I've contemplated it, but I don't see the point. It's been awhile since we've had the "spam to get postcount up" type of posters around here.
