Cormega - The Testament
Geto Boys - The Foundation
Beanie Sigel - The B. Coming

Edan - Beauty and The Beat is probably the album of the year so far (not just me that thinks this either) everyone really needs to check that out.
Thu Jun 09, 2005 10:35 am
I thought it was pretty good, but I don't know about the best. Haven't listened to it a lot either though.

^as long as its not a classic its not the best album of the year since The Testament and Be are both classic releases. lyrically by far the best albums in about 2 years (or even more than that).

I don't understand how you can judge whether an album is a classic or not within the same year. I have to listen to the album YEARS later to see if it's even worth mentioning as a classic. It can be a great album but the term "classic album" is thrown around like a baseball.

Edan - Beauty And The Beat is classic...check some hip hop review sites they all agree with me.
Probably the most mind blowing release for a few years, and I wouldn't say The Testament or Be are classic. They are both great albums, but I don't think I'd call them classic.
Imo The Realness was better then The Testament, and no one really considers that a classic.
Thu Jun 09, 2005 3:14 pm
I do. Testament and Be are both around 4.5 for me. Probably about the same for Beauty and the Beat. I'll give it another listen tommorow.
I don't know when this is from, but I got this stuff by Typical Cats which I love. If it was from 05 then I would put it right up there. I thought I saw you get it Skip, you know when you were at the store.

Oh yeah I remember getting that
That album was released in 2001 though I think, but it's a great album.

The Testament is from the 90s and it was supposed to be Megas debut album. in my eyes its simply a classic, it was kinda revolutionary for that era and its still amazing today.
as for Be bein a classic, its just that these days so much shit is released these days and rap needs to head into a different direction and then Common comes along who was kinda out of the spotlight but released amazing shit in the 90s and puts out an album at such a high level lyrically, which is like an answer to all the bullshit the industry has been putting out lately, which is real talk and which is deep and everything so its gotta be a classic in my eyes.
and no im not calling every single album thats above average a classic.

i give Commons album a 4. It's just another good album that'll probably get played out and shelved for a while. A Classic for me is something i listen to all the time years down the road.
Why would he want to fuck my woman like Kobe
because Kobe's the master of the back door cut? that's an enviable skill

Trust me, I know I'm in Australia but I post on ALOT of rap forums and The Realness isn't considered classic by most hip hop heads.

Check the underground rap homie, peep my top 10 albums and see if you can get any of those albums (some of them you will already have, but the ones you don't go out and see if you can get them)

Sun Jun 12, 2005 2:27 am
