Him or Him: Historical

Nothing in this millenium. If it's a current player, you must state the year or year range(prime, early years, etc.). Reasons must be given. If you fail to do so, I will point you out for the spammer that your are. Why? Because it's my topic.(Yeah, I'm being a jackass.)

I'll start.

Mitch Richmond or Reggie Miller?(both primes)

I'll be gone for a few, so I won't actually enforce anything(like I could?). Just don't turn this into a spamathon guys.

hmm good start here. i personally would take mitch cause of his defense. reggie was a deadeye and could totally kill a team in the 4th, but mitch could also take over a game and he could do it on both ends of the floor. so i definetly would go with mitch.

I'm guessing you're referring to GP in his prime compared to Kidd of today/couple of years ago, Sit. That's a hard choice. I think most people would go for Kidd, but I'll actually choose Payton. Not only were his teams around the top of the league through most of the 90s, he's a better shooter and definitely the superior defender.

Wilkins

Bernard King had to many injuries to be really great, and even when he was heathy, he wasn't as good as Wilkins in other aspects than scoring.

Ewing. This period of his career is a cause for the famous 'Ewing effect'.

Who would make a better pick'n'roll player:
Shawn Kemp or Karl Malone?

Karl Malone, the Jazz built a championship quality team around that play.

Manute Bol.. he was a elite defensive player. Georghe was just ugly and tall..

Harold Miner or Tony Dumars.

Harold Miner. None of them was very good, but at least Miner got famous for his dunks (which were sick)

Patrick Ewing (seattle sonics) or Hakeem (raptors)

I like that one! A shame that two such great players should end their careers that way - they were equally bad.

Which is the worst hippie: The old Bill Walton or Steve Nash?

Bill Walton because he actually lived in that era and Steve Nash is Canadian so he's not a real person.

Isiah Thomas or Kevin Johnson?

Isiah - more creative, better offensive talent. One of the best offensive PGs ever. And hey, he won two rings, didn't he?

Rafer Alston or Jason Williams?

Alston would kill Williams on the playground, but WIlliams is doing best in the league, both stat- and flair wise.

Who dominated the most: Julius Erving in the ABA or Jordan in the NBA?

Jordan, even though I'm a Sixers/Julius Erving fan. Jordan took shot after shot after shot in the 4th quarter, even though everyone knew he was getting the ball. He also won six championships and six Finals MVPs. Plus, he won Defensive Player of the Year and was a nine-time All Defensive First Teamer.

Who was better? Kwame Brown or Michael Olowokandi?

Apologies to the creator of this topic. I just noticed that we shouldn't mention current NBA players. So for the last time:

Kwame. He gave me hope whenever I saw him, while Olowokandi gave me only bad taste in my mouth.

Who's a bigger warrior: Alonzo of today or a young one?

alonzo of today just because it's 10x harder to play with a bad kidney; he gets more tired easily. plus, if he fucks up on the court he's pretty much putting his life in jeopardy.

defensively: scottie pippen (prime) vs. ron artest

good question there. i personally would go with pippen just cause his defensive plays almost always turned into 2 points for the bulls. stopping someone from scoring is one thing, but stopping them from scoring and turning that stop into 2 easy points for your team is something else.

kevin mchale or charles barkley overall better

Charles Barkley over Mchale... one thing is interesting for me: Barkley played 3 more seasons than the Celtic but Kevin Mchale has the rings so what if Mchale wasnt on the same team as Larry Legend and Robert Parish.. maybe itd be a different story... maybe Mchale would have better stats, no rings... or no rings and worse stats???

Michael Jordan. Because of the way he utilised his vast offensive game, he was much more of a threat with the ball in his hands compared to the way Kobe is playing at the moment. Additionally, MJ averaged more points for his career and fewer turnovers.

David Robinson or Tim Duncan in their primes with a suitable supporting cast?

Andrew, you took one of the players i was going to do (duncan)

I would take Duncan because he is such an excellent all around player. Plus he has more of an array of post moves he can execute better then anyone else in the league.

I was going to do Karl Malone or Tim Duncan in their prime... can I still do that? I think so

This is difficult.. both players have somewhat different styles of basketball. Although Tim Duncan is so dominant and powerful, I'd have to go with the finesse and endurance of Karl Malone. Along with his ability to work without the ball to near perfection in the Jazz offence for how long? 18 years! Karl gets the edge for me... its different for u all though!

Best pure shooter: Chris Mullin or Peja Stojakavich or Mark Price or Larry Bird

Ray Allen. In a SI issue a few weeks back, 227 nba players were polled with a similar question, and Allen got a vast majority.

Allen has a natural shooting range out to 25ft. he can do this facing up, off the screen, off the dribble, fadeway... and makes it look pretty & effortless

Xavier "x-man" mcdaniel or kurt "rambo" rambis???
