championship level?

Right now (and I stress right now because they weren't playing like this before), the Spurs are playing like 2000-01 Lakers.

Edit since you're talking line ups

The Spurs best line up has been:

Duncan C
Horry F
Berry F
Ginobili G
Parker G

Expect to see this line up a lot when they play the Pistons: (And they will play the Pistons.)

Duncan C
Horry F
Robinson F
Ginobili G
Parker G

Why Robinson at small foward you ask? Because you don't need to send a defensive stopper (bowen) out on the Pistons but you have to keep them honest on defense. Sending a bunch of 6'4-6'6 guys won't do that you need a big small foward that can beat his man off the dribble. That'll shut Prince up.

I think R.C. is the most underrated GM ever. This guy is like Auerbach. He doesn't build for the regular season he builds for the finals.

wow... i doubt that lineup will ever be out on the floor. theyll need someone to contain hamilton, and robinson wont be the guy.

I think there was a GM thread at this site.... I know that Buford is one of the best at getting the best guys that arent under the radar...

I just love how the people in SA started chanting "MVP!" when Tim was shooting FT's, and ESPN showed Nash's face...

Mon May 30, 2005 9:44 am

wow I never expected the Suns to drop 3 in a row. I guess too much offense with no defense is a no no for now on.

Only because Nazr is in foul trouble mostly in this series but against Detroit or Maimi he will be valuable, especially on the glass. But I do think we'll see more of Robinson if playing Detroit.

The 90s Bulls aren't a good example of a team using the "switch" mentality. Their last threepeat saw three straight 60 win seasons (they almost went back-to-back with 70 wins), for the most part they were at or near the top of the league from start to finish.

I don't think that's the only reason the Suns are faltering though. Surely fatigue is an issue right now, but the fact they are built to play one way and way only does not bode well against a team like San Antonio, who can win up-tempo basketball as well as grind-it-out basketball.

That basically allows the Spurs to hold their own during the shootout plus make life difficult for the Suns with their defense. As Kevin said, without adjustments Phoenix can't overcome that kind of obstacle.

All the Phoenix Suns Fans better hope the Suns can pull off a Boston Red Sox...come back from 3-0 from against a team that looks like they going to win the championship.

 Frankly speaking... this is the end of the road for the Sun's quest for the 2005 NBA championship finals... better luck next year (i hope they won't end up like Portland Trailblazers, Utah Jazz, & Sacramento Kings)   Against San Antonio Spurs, it's very difficult to overcome a 3-0 deficit...so, i bid them goodbye & hope to see them next year (with a defense, and a dominant big man to support Amare on the paint)

3:32 remaining in the 2nd, spurs up 44-42. i highly doubt the suns will win the series, but it looks like they are fighting not to be swept.

go suns!

Tue May 31, 2005 12:39 pm

a very close fourth quarter.i cant see it live since i'm in the office.i hope the suns wont fail me now :?

Tue May 31, 2005 12:50 pm

JJ is 9 for 13, 3 for 6 from the arc...this would have been a different series with him at full strength.

Tue May 31, 2005 1:04 pm

AHAHHAHA
Amare play of the game!
No dunk for duncan1!

1 DOWN 3 TO GO pull a boston red sox plzzzzz!

Tue May 31, 2005 1:05 pm

Yeah! Suns win!!!

Great win.

Amazing block by Amare, great job by amare to get the offensive rebound, good win. Nice to see them not get swept. (Y) (Y) (Y) (Y) (Y)

Amare could have broken his wrist on that play... but he didn't so good for him. Good thing Tim wasn't Shaq.

Whoa... pure athleticism. If that was me, Duncan would have broken my wrist with his dunk. Stoudemire is a beast.

Tue May 31, 2005 1:12 pm

what a block!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 amare is the bomb in this game..i saw the final minute of the game inside our boss's office here (Y) (Y) (Y) the suns remained alived

Tue May 31, 2005 1:26 pm

haha if it was shaq poor amare would of have to have surgury the next day

Tue May 31, 2005 1:32 pm

Yea there goes the future of the NBA lol... crushed by the past (and maybe present).

Tue May 31, 2005 1:46 pm

That was an interesting call on that exchange between Amare and Ginobili. I'm guessing the double technical was because of Manu's flop to sell Amare's elbow.

Tue May 31, 2005 1:49 pm

So far for shooting well at the line in the series for Duncan. 3-12 from the line tonight LMAO

Tue May 31, 2005 2:22 pm

Whew! That was a close game... I'm glad that the Phoenix Suns wasn't swept by the San Antonio Spurs... I hope they can win it again next game (although that would be very hard and a tough one to make, so i'm still crossing my fingers on that!)

Tue May 31, 2005 2:24 pm

from a glance i thought Amare threw Ginobili like he wanted to fight but then the reply showed what happened. Good call in my opinion

Tue May 31, 2005 2:53 pm

so far i'm losing on all my bets for series wins....houston (N) pacers (N) suns=To be determined....
please amare dont let me lose cash again.....

IMO that duncan dunk was kinda soft...if he laid it up o the left hand amare could have been called for a foul......that elbow flop ginobili did was amazing......ony the replay showed the flop.....that argentinian reminds me of another argentinian(HAND OF GOD)
