Webber wants out!

Wed May 18, 2005 5:14 am

Surprise,surprise,C-Webb wants out.It seems that he said he's sick of Iverson's team and that he can't play with AI anymore. Also,he would accept lower salary just to go out of Phily.I'm just wondering who would like to have 33 years old-can't dribble-can't jump player in his team?

I'll take him if he's going cheap, God knows he's better than Brian Grant.

Webber apparently wants out of Philadelphia, reportedly because he can't get along with Iverson. Webber on Monday denied the report, which ran in the New York Daily News over the weekend.

"It's a lie," Webber said in a statement released by the team. "There's no way it is true. I have no issue with Allen Iverson and I look forward to next season and building a championship team."

I think any players game goes down when they play with AI just because they won't be seeing the ball as much as they are normally used to.

True, but he should've kept his game at the same level atleast,he was second player of the team, for crying out loud.

Wed May 18, 2005 7:07 am

different team, different offense.

never mind he was playing on one leg, for crying out loud

Wed May 18, 2005 8:03 am

^ Exactly. The Sixers Offense is completely different to the Kings O'. In Sacramento, is all about the big man handling the ball and passing it to the shooters. In Philly, is about AI hoggin' and fast breaks :P

Once they have a full training camp together, they should be fine. Webber said it was a lie, so you have to believe him. I don't see why he would want to lie about something like that anyway.

Jim O'Brien's gonna have to come up with something that integrates Webber into the offense, and maybe change the system that is similar to Sacramento's.

The Knicks would take him I'm sure...

Thu May 19, 2005 9:41 am

I wish it was true and he would leave Philly... his game really went down and it was disappointing for me as a fan...and I wouldn't mind him going to the Knicks at all, I think it'd be great. They're interested in him and they need big men, plus even Marbury would give him the ball more than A.I.

Thu May 19, 2005 10:10 am

So you just go jumping from team to team?

Thu May 19, 2005 10:21 am

I actually had been a Sacramento fan since I was 9. Then I when I was 10, Webber became my favourite player. Then he was traded and I really wasn't liking the new Kings team anymore so I became a Philly fan and now Webber's game has gone from 20-10-5 to 16-8-3 and it's all because of the trade so how can I like Philly, I wish he really would get out of that hell hole, but surprisingly enough they still are my favourite team and Webber will have his normal game back next year, no doubt. (Y)

Thu May 19, 2005 10:24 am

In other words you just follow Webber around? You forgot all about the Kings because your favorite player was traded? All right, just making sure.

Thu May 19, 2005 10:36 am

No actually I said "I wasn't liking the Kings anymore". I mean look at them, they're a completely different team with no chemistry and injuries than in 2000, 2001 and 2002. The J-Will, Christie, Webber, Divac, Hedo, Pollard team "back then" was a whole different franchise and probably the best in those years...

Thu May 19, 2005 11:00 am

Then edit your fucking sig if you wish Webber get out of that "hell hole". The only hole is Webber's post game :x I really wouldn't like him going to the Knicks, 'cause, which players they'll give to the Sixers? Tim Thomas and Penny? (Actually, I wouldn't like him to go anywhere. I just would absolutely love if he could take a damn paycut)

Thu May 19, 2005 11:20 am

All right man just chill, sorry if I offended you...I'm still a Philly fan. I just don't think he's a good fit with the Sixers and A.I...

Thu May 19, 2005 11:32 am

No worries man, you didn't offended me. It's really hard to Webber to be the type of impact player he could be in the Sixers system, where a lot of running and jumping is used, something that Webber doesn't have much, anymore. Hopefully his leg will be better next season (Y)

Thu May 19, 2005 11:40 am

Agreed (Y) But one thing is his fault and that's that he's taking jump-shots all the time now instead of getting in the post...other than that next season will be fresh and C-Webb and the Sixers will be ready since he's probably not going anywhere... (Y)

Thu May 19, 2005 12:38 pm

AI needs people like Ben Wallace on his team... players who don't want to score but would rather do other stuff..

Thu May 19, 2005 12:41 pm

I miss Theo Ratliff... he worked well with AI...

You are absolutely right. They need some role players and some great defensive players because offensive players are not going to be needed as much when they are on the same team as AI because he is going to be taking most of the shots.

Thu May 19, 2005 6:42 pm

He was doing pretty well with Mutumbo, the defensive presence during their games vs LA. That was a the best team for Iverson, Mutumbo, Hill, Mckie, Snow, Jones hell even Bell was contributing nicely.

Thu May 19, 2005 11:43 pm

Yeah, that's why I hoped Sammy would stay. He's not a scorer, but can score if it's needed. He focus mostly on rebounding, D, and blocks...he's obviously not as good as Mutombo was, but he's younger and a better athlete. Man, that team was so great, everybody did their jobs (Y)
