Necessity:New Street Mode

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

Necessity:New Street Mode

Postby BklynKING on Wed May 11, 2005 10:03 am

I hope this years Live has a better Street Mode.....it isn't fun playin one on one all the time. Adding the new street mode would be a great improvement. They should take notes from the 2K series.

1-on-1 mode isn't really that important. No one really plays it except when practicing for freestyle stuff...I'd stick with NBA street if I wanted to play something more "street"

EA Sports have a game called NBA Street which is a very very entertaining series. I believe a street add-on would not be in EA Sports' interests. (Why would they want to lose their fanbase of NBA Street? Even if it is different, I still think a few people will go "oh it should be the same" and not buy the street game.) Also, it's better if they don't distract themselves with something like that. Focus on the main game. Maybe a career mode, but not a streetball mode.

The way I envisioned it would be nothing like V3.....rather very similar to the 2K series. They might as well take the one on one street mode out....if they don't make any attempt to improve on it.

I don't think it's a necessity at all, especially with NBA Street as an arcade-style alternative. Perhaps after they improve other elements of the simulation side of things they can look at expanding the one-on-one mode, I'd prefer them to focus on improving the realism and gameplay and of course, Dynasty mode.

how about the user who doesn't has a console (including me)?
I'd like to see this feature although it's not a must.

or... Please release NBA Street on PC.

you whine every year like I do...don't have a console as well...my point was that NBA Live is supposed to be a sim game...if I'm in the mood to play "street"-style basketball then play a different game...

Like I said, even if the street mode is different from the 2k series, there will be some casual gamers that go "oh there is a street mode, I guess there is no use in buying nba street..." I think EA is aware of the possible confusion that might occur for these type of fans.

I sure would not mind them but a street mode is not needed in my opinion. That's why they got NBA Street as Andrew said :!:

The problem is, not everyone has a console which is something I often forget since I got my PS2 a couple of years back. That's where a street mode in NBA Live would come in handy as long as the NBA Street won't be released for the PC. My only objections to such a mode in NBA Live is if it comes at the expense of the existing features, which still have plenty of potential and room for improvement. It's one of those things that I'd think about when Dynasty Mode and the gameplay are all but perfect.

the only necessities are to improve Dynasty mode and the Gameplay (especially those blocks :x )

graphics like the crowd is the most UNSOFrigGINNECESSARY thing

but that is just me, i've gotten sick of NBA Live 04, i hav realistic settings, superstar level and i beat Dallas with Utah by 80 points in 10 mins quarters, that confuses the hell outta me

I actually agree that their should be a new street mode, actually not really a new mode, but just more options.

1 vs 1
2 vs 2
3 vs 3
4 vs 4
5 vs 5
and 21 with streetball, that's all that is needed.

i'd rather scrap 1 on 1 and use the space to add more gameplay animations (dunks, lay-ups, dribble moves)

me too....scrap that, first and foremost we need

1. Gameplay....gameplay should be as realistic as possible
2. Dynasty....after gameplay is done then do a dynasty
3. FX....to shut up all those graphics whiners
4. extras...anything else gets done last

Personally I think there a too many street basketball games out there and too little realistic NBA Basketball games.
NBA Live 2003 is the best game ever made.

i dont think there should be any street mode in nba live. doing one would only take away from the actual game and leave us with a gimped nba game and a gimped street ball game.

If NBA Street will remain a console-only release, a street mode in Live is something that could be explored when they're in need of a new mode. When it gets to the point there's nothing major to do with the gameplay or Dynasty Mode, it might be a welcome addition. But only when there's not much room for improvement to the current features.

If it can be achieved quickly and easily without taking time away from other important areas, sure. But a whole new street mode would take time to develop properly, which is why it should wait until the rest of the game is at a level where it can't really get significantly better year-to-year.

NBA Live and NBA Streets are two completely different games. I generall don't even like games like Streets. Adding Street game to Live would not effect NBA Streets at all because it would still be completely different games, but even so I don't see much benefit other than being able to play a game on a street court.
