many actually consider the spurs as a boring team.....
but note this
the utah jazz of the 96-98 season was heck of a bore..........but they keep on wiining
my college team where i played was a bore.....we have about 3 attempts at the 3 and never fast break.....yet we win championships..........basketball is not about flashy shows and stuff......much like boxing.....you dont need all the adrenalin of jumping up and down.......the goal is to knock down your opponent...........and that is prolly the only mindset the spurs have right now.......which makes them more dangerous than ever....
after all that is said and done.........go SUNS

One thing about the Spurs, they've always had classy guys that don't act like children and have a lot of loyalty, it's truly a franchise.
I still give TD kudos for staying with SA when he could have jumped over to what looked like history in the making in Orlando, with Grant Hill & McGrady. Ginobli was also offered some serious money by Denver last year. They really seem like a team versus a bunch of paid athletes.

i guess im loosely a spurs bandwagoner, ive loved David Robinson's game, TD is great too, Sean Elliot, Avery Johnson, Vinny Del (not a) Negro....shit this owns!!!!!
but still, the Pistons all the way...Joe Dumars, Lindsey Hunter, Grant Hill, Stackhouse, Ratliff.....ownage!!!

Vinny Del(not a) Negro
i think that guy retired too soon.....not to worry someone pops up that looks like him and plays like him......can anyone guess who it is?
manu

Ginobili and Del Negro are both white and have played for the Spurs. That's about where the similarities begin and end. Vinny was more of a perimeter player, Ginobili's much more athletic and a better slasher (though he too can shoot from the outside).

Whatever happened to Vinny Del Negro anyway?
Tue May 10, 2005 8:51 pm
He retired to take a broadcasting job a couple of years ago.
Tue May 10, 2005 10:12 pm
ahh the days of Hornacek lighting up Del Negro....those were the days

I though he had retired to take a mob job... Vinny D, aka "The Shooter", terror of suburban Texas...

He may well have. I only know that he retired, I haven't been following his post-NBA career that closely.

didnt he play for Golden State a season or two after SAS??? Or was that Milwaukee.
Either way, he was a decent player that filled the SG and PG slots. Not an All-Star but a good role player, which is all SAS needed from him.
Wed May 11, 2005 3:02 am
Well. he and good ol' jeff Hornacek were probably the last breed of fundamentally sound yet unathletic two guards to compliment the stars in a contender team... Here's to them , wherever they are now...

Dido. They bore the hell our of me and I hate Horry (fuckin 3ptshot on the Kings, Duncan (so goddam borin and he hurt my team in 99), Bruce Bowen (dirty!!), and Tony Parker (alien!!)
Only Spur I've ever liked was David Robinson.
I'm pulling for the Sonics to win this series. Suns to win it all. GO SUNS!!!

You know when you're good when people start hating you...
Here's an article about the Spurs:

I think he ended up playing for Milwaukee, Golden State and Phoenix upon leaving the Spurs after the 1998 season.

I have cards of him playing for San Antonio and Phoenix... actually that gives me an idea for a future thread .

Well I usually never root for the Spurs mainly because they are almost always favored but... If it comes down to picking a team full of degenerates who rely on cheap shots to win (Pistons) or a team with an overpaid fat ass idiot with a serious attitude problem (Heat), I'll root for the Spurs. They might not get past the Suns who I think can beat the shit out of all three of them though.

ahh, another great mind at the works
i have been keen all this time and i noticed a hell lot of D.RObinson fans.....why do poeple hate TD? he seems to follow in the admiral's footstep.....he may not be that super muscular but hey he is your typical nice guy
Wed May 11, 2005 9:18 pm
Okay, another rout of the Sonics, 108 - 91, and it's now 2-0.
TD, TP and Gino all had above 25 points and killed the greeinied, despite Allen's playing injured yet still putting up 25.
If we get game 3, then we'll bring out the brooms. It's going to be in 5 at the most.
I agree, Phoenix - San Antonio will be a classic, and will probably go down in 7.

Yes, this is strange. Everybody is constantly complaing about the likes of Kobe, AI and others because they're cocky as hell, and then a good, quiet guy comes along who is twice MVP and the best post player of teh past 20 years, wins two titles, never gets into trouble, and people still don't like him...
I think people have issues...

I'm a Spurs fan when Dominique Wilkins played for them. Then became a Duncan fan the year after, when TD was drafted!
Let's start talking about SA vs. Phx now because Sea won't stand a chance, Sea will probably steal a game or two, tops!

They're just playing lousy. I don't get it because they played em much better during the season.

The regular season is for men. The playoffs are for men with big cojones. That's why.

What are you talking about? The Pistons starting five is amongst the best starting five in the league, and the only player on the team who ever picks up a technical is Rasheed - and he has put his ignorance in the past already. How exactly are they degenerates? And how do they rely on cheap shots to win?
On topic:
I can see the Spurs sweeping the Sonics rather easily now. It sucks big time that Seattle has fallen to the injury bug after a really impressive season. Ray Allen is one of my favorite players, and I hate to see him go down like this.
The way the games have been played so far, there's a possibility that all four series' in this round may end in sweeps.
