Yes, a good move... We needed a blocker...

Plus the team's core ( J-Rich, BD, Dunleavy, Walton, Murphy, Swift ) is around 23-26 years old, so that's hope for the future.

Stro is rated 68, by the way...

Coming Up: The Denver Nuggets are visiting Oakland, and hope to get back in track for the playoffs, being way below .500 at the moment... Can Carmelo step it up? Or will K-Mart be all alone once more? Can the Warriors win their 9th in a row, breakinga 10 year record? Will the backcourt duo of J-Rich and BD dominate once more? Stay tuned, and get to know...

You ripped my team off

But that was really a complete rip off and I'm disappoiting :( Two centers that are on their way to retiring for Swift who the GRizz could've got a close to all-star caliber player with him in a sign-and-trade along with maybe a few other players. RIP RIP RIP

But at least you improved your team.

Shit, the Stro Show is coming to Golden State. J-Rich, Stro and Baron Davis, that is a monster highlight reel waiting to happen. I'm so looking foward to the next recap, its giving me the heebie jeebies.

Well, I gave a ( sub-par, to tell the truth  ) justification of the trade from Memphis' side in the above announcement. We have to be creative...
Hey, if I had done the Baron Davis trade before it had actually happened in real life, wouln't people call that a rip off? This dynasty is an alternate reality, maybe Stro was a risky headcase the Griz wanted to get rid off, and couln't find any other suitors for him. Think of it this way...

JANUARY 16 , 2005

GAME OF THE DAY:

TORONTO 100NEW ORLEANS 102 (Jamaal Magloire 34pts – 13rebs – 15/18 FGs)

JANUARY 17, 2005

THE GAME: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. DENVER NUGGETS

Image

It was Stromile Swift’s first appearance in a Golden State uniform and the talented young forward started at PF, rotating with Troy Murphy at center for most of the game. In the beginning, it was a scoring contest with neither team’s defense able toi lock down the opposite offenses. The trio of Davis, Richardson and Murphy was providing most of the points for the Warriors, while Kenyon Martin along with Marcus Camby and the substitutes keeping the Nuggest in the game. The first quarter ended 32 – 31. In the second period, it was still a high scoring affair, but this time Golden State managed to outscore Denver. Jason Richardson was making his own shots and made them, while Luke Walton was hitting his jumpers from 18 feet and beyond. Marcus Camby was leading Denver, both on offense and on defense, but his teammates did not follow suit, resulting in a 63 – 54 halftime lead for the Warriors.

Image Image
Stromile Swift wore his new jersey, the one with no 2 on the back, 4 being taken by Walton. Jason Richardson led his team in the first half, scoring 17 points during that time…

The scoring extravaganza continued, with both teams causing defenses no end of trouble, and fast breaks always being the first option after turnovers and rebounds. Mike Dunleavy Jr and Rodney White carried the Warriors in scoring, while K-Mart was doing his thing unattended inside the paint, having a lot of outside help by substitute guard/forward DerMarr Johnson, who made many jumpers and three pointers to close the deficit. The 3rd quarter ended 92 – 89 . In the fourth, Baron Davis picked up his game, after being below average during the first three. With some accurate passing and exceptional pushes for fast breaks, Baron kept up the high scoring tempo of the game and helped guys like Dunleavy and Walton score a lot of easy baskets. The real difference maker was Luke Walton, though, having a vintage all around performance with 10 points, 8assists and 2 rebounds in only 19 minutes of play. The Warriors won this one 129 – 120.

Image Image
Kenyon Martin carried the Nugs in the second half, but in the end was not enough to get them the W… On the other hand, Dunleavy’s sharp shooting was crucial for the Warriors, especially during the 4th quarter…

POG: JASON RICHARDSON 26pts – 8ast

Coming Up: Golden State visits Los Angeles to face the Lakers, hoping to make their winning streak 10 in a row... LA is currently struggling to find consistency, and it is bot long ago that they succumbed to their oppositin in the Oakland Arena... Will the streak end at 9? Will Baron have an off night for a change? Will Stromile Swift acclimatize and help his new team further? Stay tuned...

whoa, 9 straight already? You're rollin' right now, keep up the good work, although Kobe's always a bitch to defend. But hey, I held him to less than 20 points in my Raps dynasty, so I hope you can do the same.

THE GAME: LA LAKERS vs. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

Image

It started out as a two men scoring battle with Odom and Baron Davis duking it out between themselves play after play and possession after possession. With Troy Murphy stepping up after the 8th minute and the bench providing help on both ends of the court, the Warriors were leading at the end of the first, 18 – 22. In the second quarter, it was time for the Kobe Bryant show. The 6’ 6” superstar carried almost the entire offensive load of the Lakers on his back, scoring relentlessly and containing Jason Richardson on defense as well showing no signs of fatigue. Chris Mihm helped in the paint, while Baron Davis was silenced by Chucky Atkins. This resulted in the Lakers leading 50 – 39 at halftime.

Image Image
Lamar Odom in the first and Kobe Bryant in the second quarter led Los Angeles on offense and defense, bringing them ahead at the half…

The second half started with the Lakers still in control of the tempo, taking good shots and playing up-close defense on Golden State’s backcourt duo of Davis and Richardson, leaving only Murphy to score for the visitors. With Kobe Bryant finding no real resistance on offense, Los Angeles managed to preserve the 11-point lead up until the end of the period, 73 – 62. The first 6 minutes in the 4th and final quarter were no different from the 36 minutes that preceded them, with Odom and Kobe doing their thing at will, and only J-Rich finding his way into the basket for the Warriors. The last 6 minutes were totally different, though. Golden State elevated its game more than one level, with Davis picking up the pace, creating fast breaks, Richardson scoring momentum-changing baskets, and Walton coming off the bench to provide leadership for the second unit. All in all, it didn’t take long fo rthe visitors to catch up, and with the help of Murphy’s dominance in rebounds, to win this game 87 – 94 with a late 4th quarter comeback.

Richardson and Murphy, along with Davis, were the three men that led the Warriors’ late game charge that gave them another road victory…

POG: TROY MURPHY 15pts – 15rebs – 7ast – 7/12 FGs

GS TOP PLAYERS:

JASON RICHARDSON 21pts – 6rebs

BARON DAVIS 19pts – 7ast – 4rebs

STROMILE SWIFT 13pts – 6rebs – 2blk – 6/8 FGs

The Aftermath: Golden State wins its 10th game in a row, and is the hottest team in the NBA right now, sitting 7th in the Western Conference standings.
