Good luck vs. the Blazers. Should be a win.

It won't be easy in the Rose Garden. Both teams suck right about now...

DECEMBER 30, 2004

GAME OF THE DAY:

ATLANTA - SEATTLE 102 - 121 (Ray Allen 37pts - 10ast - 4stl - 5/8 3pt)

DECEMBER 31, 2004

GAME OF THE DAY:

CHARLOTTE - SEATTLE 122 - 127 ( doubleOT ) (Ray Allen 32pts - 9rebs - 5ast - 57mins)

JANUARY 1 , 2005

THE GAME: PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS vs. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

Image

It started out with the Blazers blazing, especially on offense. Zach Randolph was dominant, to put it mildly, inside the paint with neither Murphy nor Divac being able to slow down his tempo. Speedy Claxton was trying to run the Warriors' offense from the point but there was nobody able to hit open shots and take advantage of his passing. It didn't take long for Portland to gat a double-digit lead, and even managed to end the first quarter largely ahead by 32 - 15. In the second quarter, the lead stayed pretty much intact for the home team, despite Troy Murphy's constant efforts for the Warriors. Mike Montgomery could still not find anyone to keep Randolph in check, with the Portland big man racking up on points and rebounds. The half found the Blazers leading 52 - 37.

Image
Shareef Abdur-Rahim was a productive sidekick for Randolph in the first half, not allowing Golden State's defense to adjust on Zach alone...

The second half started with Jason Richardson and Troy Murphy on fire offensively, and Vlade Divac bringing down the defensive boards without any challenge. It was not too long into the third quarter that the Warriors managed to bring the lead down to single-digits, aided by an impressively effective zonal defense that not only short-circuited Derek Anderson and Damon Stoudamire's shooting, but also prevented the Blazers from putting the ball in the paint. The quarter ended 67 - 61 for Portland. In the final period of this contest, Jason Richardson along with Murphy kept on scoring but could not find a third fiddle to relieve the pressure for those two. Portland turned back to Randolph for scoring and rebounding, while Nick Van Exel came off the bench and provided a much needed shooting spark for the home team, quickly restoring a 10 point lead that pretty much stayed unchanged until th eend. Final Score: 97 - 87 for the Blazers.

Image
Jason Richardson went on a scoring rampage in th esecond half, but besides Troy Murphy there was noone else on the GS roster that provided sufficient help...

POG: ZACH RANDOLPH 29pts - 17rebs - 4stl

GS TOP PLAYERS:

JASON RICHARDSON 30pts - 14/24 FGs

TROY MURPHY 24pts - 7rebs - 3ast - 2stl - 10/19 FGs

GAME OF THE DAY:

NEW YORK - NEW JERSEY 106 - 83 (Allan Houston 28pts - 12/16 FGs - 23mins)

Yep, and then Zach started dunking non-stop, and it all got out of hand... What can you do?

Except....

The Oakland Tribune, January 2nd, 2005

In what can only mildly be described as surprise, the Golden State Warriors announced today that they heve acquired Baron Davis from the New Orleans Hornets via trade. Dale Davis and Speedy Claxton will be heading to New Orleans in return.
Baron Davis was up to this point leading the Hornets offensively with 22ppg and 7.5 apg, but it was clear to everyone in the team's locker room and beyond, that the constant bickering between the star PG and his coach Byron Scott was getting to excruciating levels for the franchise. It was rumored that Davis had requested a trade from his GM as early as in last summer, but his request was not granted at the time in th ehope that his relationship with Scott would eventually improve. Apparently , things only got worse so his team decided to ship him off.
Latest reports from the city of New Orleans indicate that the vast majority of teh team's fan is , to say the least , disgruntled with this move, not only because their team losing its leader , but also, as they put it: "We got only pocket change in exchange for a 100 dollar bill".
When confronted with this, the Hornets' front office replied: " The choice of Claxton and Dale Davis is one that will vastly improve our condition come the off-season. We had not been doing so well early in the season sitting at the bottom of the league, and it was not long ago that we decided to start rebuilding as soon as possible. When the trade offer came from Mr Donovan, we had little choice but to accept it"
Furthermore, it is rumored that it will not be long before Dale Davis is waived by the Hornets, with his former team , The Indiana Pacers already having expressed thier interest in signing him
.

hmmm a playoffs stint will surely boost your salary next year as a GM and will automatically fire the crappy lawyer named D.Trump.
anyways a decent season will not get your ass hotwired but the board will review everything and yes we will even decide to give you a silvery new PDA....[besides the women and fancy cars].......so get back to work and give us the results we want now that we have b.diddy in the house...

with love D.Trump secretary

I'm not just a GM, I'm an owner/GM. I think I'll go give myself a raise right about now...
And I'm not selling the franchise to Trump, no matter what... 8-)

Coming Up: B-Diddy's debut against Philadephia in Oakland
One of the following things will happen:

1) He put up a maonster triple double
2) Gets a broken finger leaving him out of action for 3 weeks
3) Fails to show up for the game due to him recording a new hip-hop album named "Busta' Scott's Cap"

Stay tuned and bring plenty of food...

NBA News:

Today there was another big trade taking place: Chris Webber along with Michael Bradley and Matt Barnes are heading to the Philadelphia 76ers, while Kenny Thomas, Corlis Williamson and Brian Skinner will be playing for the Sacramento Kings.
This deal took the league by surprise, as nobody expected a star like Webber, though aging and coming from a major injury last year, to be given away, especially in exchange for role players.
Rumors in the Kings organization state that GM Geoff Petrie proceeded with this trade in order to get rid of C-Webb’s 60million dollar salary over the next 3 years. The Sixers seem to have the better end of the deal upon first glance, but it remains to be seen if Webber can help revitalize Allen Iverson who has been having a disappointing year so far.

GAME OF THE DAY:

SACRAMENTO – SAN ANTONIO 114 – 90 (Brad Miller 27pts – 12rebs – 5ast – 3blk)

JANUARY 3, 2005

THE GAME: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. PHILADELPHIA 76ers

Image

This game did not start off with the best of omens for the Warriors, as just 5 minutes after tipoff Jason Richardson hurt his back in a nasty fall after a rebound attempt, and had to step out for the rest of the game. There wouldn’t be any backcourt of Davis-Richardson, not in this game at least. Chris Webber was also debuting for the Sixers, so the league’s eyes were turned to Oakland this day.Baron Davis had a good start, finishing the first quarter with 9 points and 4 assists, while Webber did even better with 13 points and 6rebs. The quarter ended tied 27-27. In the second period, the game’s tempo slowed down a bit, with few fast breaks and rough defenses on both ends of the court. Chris Webber kept on scoring non-stop for Philadelphia, but the 1-4 duo of Baron davis and Rodney White was having a blast offensively for Golden State and kept their team in reach, finishing the half 50 – 52.

Image
Jason Richardson’ early injury left Baron Davis the only offensive threat for the Warriors…

The second half started the exact same way the first one ended. Baron Davis created a passing rapport with Rodney white and Troy Murphy, with the latter getting a lot of minutes at the center position and doing remarkably well despite his relative softness. Vlade Divac provided his team with rebounding and defensive help whenever his coach threw him on the floor. On the other hand, Allen Iverson got his motor running and put on a scoring display typical of him. The third quarter ended 66-67. In the 4th quarter of this contest, Davis kept on passing the ball brilliantly, finding his open teammates for the uncontested jumpers or inside the paint for easy lay-ups. The game went to the wire, with both teams answering each other’s baskets with ones of their own, leading to a thriller finale, which took a buzzer-beating 3 pointer by Iverson to tie it all up and send it to overtime. Regulation score: 113-113.

In overtime, it was all Baron Davis. The 6’ 3” newly acquired guard played as if he had been with the Warriors for ages, showing passion and commitment to victory that were not part of the agenda while he was playing for the Hornets. He scored most of his team’s points during those 5 minutes, leaving no room for Iverson to do his thing on defense. Golden State wins this one 126 – 115.

Image
Baron Davis had an amazing debut with his new team and put up a monster triple double figure, exciting Golden State fans’ hopes for the future…

POG: BARON DAVIS 30pts – 20ast – 10stl

GS TOP PLAYERS :

TROY MURPHY 28pts – 8rebs – 12/16 FGs

JASON KAPONO 15pts – 5/9 FGs

RODNEY WHITE 15pts – 4rebs

Golden State Warriors medical report:

" We are very pleased to announce that Jason Richardson's extreme pain and subsequent inability to stay on the court during the game against the Philadelphia 76ers was only due to a case of a nerve having been pinched. Jason will be back for training and game action effective immediately. "

Coming up: - Another big, if somewhat strange , trade takes place early in the NBA season. This time the Warriors ARE NOT involved in it in anyway.

-Golden State goes on the road to take on the Boston Celtics at Fleet Center. How well is Baron Davis going to do after his phenomenal debut? Will the Warriors make it 2 in a row? Stay tuned, and don't change the forum!!!

- Also, for those of you with NLSC - Insider: A report on the farings of Lance Donovan's other 2 teams: The Oakland Raiders of the NFL and the San Jose Sharks of the NHL....
